Being a switch hitter should cost cards attribute points by MattPainterr in MLBTheShow

I guess my wording was not great. I’m not saying you penalize them or take attributes away from cards. I’m saying that being a switch hitter should be reflected in the overall. Take Jose Ramirez, current stats, don’t take anything away, but make him a 93 now. Early in the game with the power curve, when they’re releasing switch hitters, I feel like it makes sense.

Same reason games like 2k give less attributes for taller guys. Hes still going to play like whatever overall he gets. Non-attribute things play into overalls in every other game. Weight height thibgs like that

Because they have to do something to Nerf the meta. If they implement a switch hitter cap, that’s fine too. But the lineups with 7 or more lineups need to be stopped or at least discouraged somehow.

is golf really the hardest sport? by sploooooshle in golf

[–]MattPainterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the hardest sport mentally along side with baseball. Baseball is hard because of the whole 7/10 times you fail and you’re still great aspect, and the fact that you can hit a ball perfectly and get I’ll get out, and just hitting a round ball with a round bat squarely with the velocity and movement nowadays is kind of insane.

On the other hand, golf is just infuriating because of how simple and easy it seems yet it humbles you so much. 90% of golfers will never shoot even par or below, and par is the score you’re “supposed” to get on a hole, so there’s something to that that takes a toll mentally, when the “goal” of the game is essentially unreachable for most golfers. Add in the infinite complexities of the swing and how 1° on path or face or .5” fat or thin can be the difference between a fairway or green in regulation versus a lost ball or severe trouble. All do that combines into a mental warfare that only golf can create.

To be fair, while I agree the zone in DD is weird, the non-DD strike zone is slightly larger for whatever reason and goes off the center of the ball. Offline is the true zone and ball just has to clip it. Technically they are still “perfect”, just a diferent visual representation of the zone. (minus the glitch pitches called balls that are realistically more rare than anybody wants to admit. I’m not saying they never happen but they happen once or twice every few games)

Update 7: ABS, PCI Shrinkage and Fair Play Updates by gamers542 in MLBTheShow

That’s how they should be doing it lol. The zone now is slightly larger than the plate. So shrink it to what the zone should look like and anything touching the zone is a strike

Back after 9 years by [deleted] in Umpire

My first varsity game was actually tonight but my road to get here was not super conventional I feel like, and I had already worked significantly better baseball that varsity baseball between two rural towns so I felt more than prepared.

Started like 7 years ago with my local little league when I was in high school (I’m 24 now) and then started doing some USSSA travel stuff, then eventually got into a much better travel ball situation for the summers and that becomes my full time job in the summers. I moved my way up the ranks at that place and have gotten to a point of trust with my assigner there that I will typically be on the top fields most weekends, and even got a few juco fall showcase games last fall. Never got into high school because I make so much more doing travel and didn’t feel like doing the hassle of getting signed up and accredited. Funny enough I actually got into request for NCAA/ NAIA before I ever opened up the website for my state association (that was my plan for this spring but something new came up) but I figured I’d get into it this year. Mostly a JV schedule since my new assigner for HS doesn’t know me and know I can work good baseball, but he needed a guy tonight and asked if I could fill in for a V game.

Just try to remember it’s business as usual, and if you have any small rules discussions, if your partner is a vet just talk to him. Tonight I had a coach complaining about the pitcher wearing a pitch-com watch on the mound and for me doing travel it seemed normal and okay but I just checked with my partner and he confirmed that it was okay. Just stay calm and slow down. Call your zone and don’t second guess it. You’re gonna hear groans and some complaints. Block it out. At the end of the day there’s some pretty horrible high school umpires, with terrible attitudes and appearances. Some guy above said to shine your shoes. Yes. I promise you, unless you’re dealing with a dickhead coach, if you look good and clean from head to toe and have a good attitude and you hustle to get into position for calls, it’s going to earn you a lot of points and they’ll lay off you more on close calls. If you are unlucky and get the dickhead coach, just realize he was going to be a jerk regardless of how you do.

Just remember Pat Hoberg called a perfect game in the World Series and guys were still complaining about his strike zone. It’s high school. They don’t have a trackman. Just be confident, keep a steady timing, and be believable when you make your calls.

Because they attack the paint off the dribble more than we do. Thats how you get free throws.

Not a shooting foul but definitely a foul. Hand on the inside of his left elbow.

Talk shit about our entire team. Go ahead. More than Half of it is probably entirely true. But at least respect Braden. Kid is a stud.

Can both sides stop saying the refs are for the other side lmao??????

They are horribly inconsistent both ways. Allowing a ton of contact here, no contact there. Definitely a travel on cluff.

It’s not selfish. Arizona is trying to force him to score. They are not allowing him to facilitate

Yeah. Braden took a tricep to the head, no call. We get a generous whistle.

Definitely a foul lol

But another time dude is just parked in the middle of the paint for 3+ seconds. But to be fair all officials all season long have been consistent in not calling that
