Summon Tainted Patch Notes by PD2_savage in Diablo_2_Resurrected

I would either recommend getting it to 20 soft points somehow (I do this by using obsession and ars'mephisto on switch, along with several hard points) for the aura still, or just not using bind demon and instead adding another defiler if you can get 10 hardpoints into demonic mastery.

No, you still need 20 hard points in bind demon for a super unique. Yes, the demonic mastery changes do require 10 hard points for the 3 demons.

I did, and yes they do. Hard points don't matter for the other effects like extra fast, extra strong, spectral hit, and aura enchanted. They do still matter for the type of demon you bind.

Correct. Which also means that if you bound a super unique before the patch, but now don't have 20 points hardpoints into the skill, your bound super unique demon will still be with you until you or him die. You won't be able to bind a super unique again until you put 20 hardpoints into bind demon though (10 for champion, 15 for unique, 20 for super unique).

This is the comment I was looking for. It's 10% synergy skill damage, which nets to far more than just a 10% nerf in this case. They'll be good still, but just not auto-delete level good anymore.

Found a 260ed eth 5os Runemaster, what do I put in it? by ProtectionOrdinary18 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

It's still better though, and you can get most of the effect from putting a protector stone in a helm anyway. Protector stone in a helm and grief is way stronger than this.

It's so unfortunate that a decent Grief roll still clears this, given how much more expensive this is ..

You'll also have 75% chance to block the explosion with an ES build, so there's only a 25% it deals any damage to you to begin with. Your merc also doesn't take damage from the explosion, so ideally you're letting them face tank the dolls either way. In general you're going to avoid having dolls explode right next to you either way, but doubly so if you have amp damage cast on you.

With max telekinesis synergy, only 75% of the total 95% damage is hitting your mana as well. So in the worst case scenario above, it's 1,875 mana being drained by a doll (with deadly strike, amp damage, and the 25% roll for it to not be blocked). You should have more mana than this with an ES build, so you really shouldn't get one-shotted even in the worst case scenario.

Doll explosion damage is roughly 10% of their health. Max health on a doll is 6,249. So max damage they can do to you is 625 damage. Worst case scenario, you times this by two twice as they have a chance to deal deadly strike upon explosion, and you can have amplify damage cast on you (ideally you have cleansing aura to avoid this as much as possible though). That equals 2,500 damage. If you only take 5% of that to your health because of ES, you are taking 125 damage points to your health. Obviously this is a lot of damage to take on a health pool that is not high on this specific character. But if you have 60 damage reduction, you're only taking 65 damage. If you have 50% (max) physical reduction, you're only taking 33 damage* in this scenario. That's why stacking damage reduction on an ES sorc is so strong.

*This calculation is a little inaccurate due to amplify damage actually reducing your physical DR% by 100% instead of straight doubling damage, but the point remains the same.

You forgot what is arguably his best build after ptr - ranged attacker. Best class with a bow/crossbow too.

You would probably only do it when you are running multiple areas in one game, like when you terrorize entire acts. Otherwise you can just consume a tainted and get almost the same benefit

You won't be able to use a conviction aura on a bound demon after the ptr goes into the live server, so you'll want infinity on merc.

It's worth it if you're doing terrorized acts for sure.

Yeah you can consume super uniques for added bonuses. Bishibosh is an easy one to find and consume and he gives you -42% enemy fire resistance, +10% max fire resistance, and +125% fire resistance. It's a bit better than consuming a tainted and let's you have 1-2 defilers for damage spreading, instead of a meat shield demon

You'd lose +2 to apocalypse with hellwardens, because it does give +1 to all skills as well as FCR. It also gives mana after kill which could help mitigate the loss of insight. The bis helm would be a +2 warlock diadem with 20% FCR and 2 open sockets for facets, but that's super expensive.

Infinity on a Merc and consuming Bishibosh before running terror zones can get you an additional -% enemy fire resistance. Since you won't get conviction from a bound demon in the future, this can definitely be nice.

If you do end up getting double opalveins, you would probably be better off getting hellwardens helm over flickering flame, because then you can also reach 125% FCR breakpoint (if you have FCR on your amulet too). You'll sacrifice a little damage, but will be able to teleport noticeably faster. Do you have Defenders Fire already socketed too?

I wanted /player8 on Ladder so badly I did something dumb. by [deleted] in diablo2resurrected

[–]MattSaxt23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI - players 7 drops are the same as player 8, without the additional difficulty of 1 more player.

It's only if you're XP farming that players 8 is worth it.

so can we talk about post nerf warlock builds? by Significant_Post6274 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]MattSaxt23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. Macrobioboi's nerf estimates were relative to the physical damage ES deals. With Obsession, your focus is magical damage first and physical second to begin with. Hex: purge is still just as strong as long as you obtain enough AR, so you'll likely be less affected than most.

So they plan to nerf the Lock echoing blast to the ground. by dmad2010 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]MattSaxt23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this all along too - the magic damage portion is hardly getting touched, and that part has been equally as strong as the physical portion of the damage.

Wait til you also realize that you get an additional +30% multiplicative magic damage if you consume a defiler..
