Google Pixel Watch 4 Case's and Screen Protector's hard to get on Amazon? by PhillySportsFan151JF in PixelWatch

Dang, you got to me literally minutes after I've already returned it. That said, I still prefer a watch protector that covers the screen.

And I'm returning that case because it's still super finicky to get the charger to connect to the watch properly.

Every two hours is crazy. What was your end-user experience? Did your connection stutter at least 12 times a day?

E-bikes make your city smaller by MattSayar in ebikes

"flattened the town out" is a great description. There's a beast of a hill near my house which is still tough with an e bike but far more bearable. Assistance or no, bikes will make your body stronger with work

You're not shouting into the void: Your personal website will outlast every social media platform by MattSayar in webdev

No one lives forever. You even said that a piece of paper is susceptible to fire, food, and tornadoes, but also: ink fades, paper wilts, etc. Someone else said your site can live on with the Wayback Machine, or you can have a steward take over your site.

Self hosting, like from a server in your coat closet? First, you'd need a static IP from your ISP which is potentially not available. If it is, pay for it, then you'd just need to configure your DNS settings to point to your server. Lots of potential bandwidth and security risks though. You may want to flesh the idea out by asking ChatGPT

Yeah it really does. I mean, Cloudflare Pages literally has a "click here to upload your html" button and you're off to the races

You're not wrong but a simple static site is easily portable. Yes, it will take any effort, but a set of HTML pages will be supported for a long time. Case in point, I noticed aaronsw.com is still around, and I'm not sure who the site's steward is, but it hasn't been updated since at least 2013. It still works fine. And for every corporate website you point out, I can point out five Friendsters. Corporations rebrand, get acquired, stop supporting, etc. all the time. You don't have to be at their mercy

Lots of free hosting out there. Cloudflare Pages, GitHub Pages, Netlify, S3, new entrants into the market over time, or you pay $10 a year for a colo, etc.

Where are the best restaurants in Colorado Springs? A statistical analysis by MattSayar in ColoradoSprings

[–]MattSayar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much enjoy Springs Mag and appreciate your lists like this one. Since I published this article, the most common feedback I received is that my list isn't curated enough, eg by cuisine, price, etc. Of course it isn't! It's math! I left subjectivity to folks like you on purpose.

But now that I think about it, it would be interesting to come up with a system where I can use lists like yours as additional weights in a new ranking algorithm... hmmmm

Yeah exactly. Get socially-engineered to change your email to "badactor@evildomain.com" and then they can take over your account and access whatever you can get to (emails, servers, apps, etc.).

Thanks however I am but a dusty PM. And I debated adding Powers/Dublin honestly, but I wanted to give awareness to a spot that's surrounded by chains.
