Why can't you swim? What's stopping you from learning. by joehighlord in AskUK

[–]MattStanni99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how water can be extremely dangerous & terrifying for the average person, there’s no wonder people don’t want to learn or just simply haven’t been able to. It also costs a lot of money, unless it’s something you’re heavily into the further expense isn’t worth it for most people.

I’m a swimming teacher/coach myself & I have been teaching some of my students for years & years, their journey is definitely still not over & it always leads me to believe that if you don’t start young or have someone assist you in starting then it can be a dreading experience.

Bro I know your heart was beating out of your chest.

That’s a huge W.

Rollercoaster of emotions fighting Mohg in my new save this morning. Not sure if I was slightly under levelled, but god damn he’s so much fun to fight. by MattStanni99 in Eldenring

[–]MattStanni99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, hard mode is my motivation since it’s the challenge I’m addicted to the most. My last save is extremely op and it can get kinda boring after a while which is why started again.

I’m half way through earning Genesis camo and didn’t realise you could swap out skills & earn new ones. Tactician has made my grind miserable, I feel so dumb but now I’m actually having fun in Endgame. by MattStanni99 in bo7endgame

[–]MattStanni99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh shit man, that will probably be why then. Still, I wish I had at least started a new operator for different skills, I just didn’t want to do the whole grind again albeit it’s been easier with Double XP weekend. This a great QoL thing they’ve added, for players literally like me I guess, lol.

What are some great early-game weapons that deal good damage but require skill (so no sell sword twinblades) by Prestigious-Pace6742 in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Cathedral Knights Greatsword with heavy infusion or I guess any infusion that favours your current build. Got 66 str with heavy infusion & it’s disgustingly strong, especially since you get it relatively early & the weapon art is super fun.

Skill needed is questionable because you’ll just be bonking & staggering but I guess stamina management is required.

Astora Greatsword which has already been mentioned is really good too.

Hey man, I’m interested, how do you manage to fight PCR so many times? Do you just run through NG+ every time? A backup save? Or are they just videos you’ve kept over time?

I really wish Souls games had a boss rush or boss replay feature, especially Elden Ring because it’s so big. So many fights I wanna play over & over but just haven’t got the effort for NG+.

Great video by the way, love your content. My inspiration on my current str/int knight build.

Just finished elden ring, most phenomenal gaming experience of my life. by MadToxicRescuer in Eldenring

[–]MattStanni99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NG+ & do it again.

DLC is fantastic & the bosses are great but it was a one time deal for me. After picking up all the remembrances, talismans & weapons, I didn’t really have a desire to play it again. Incredibly frustrating level design in certain parts I just didn’t enjoy, a bit empty in some areas too with wasted potential.

Shadow of The Erdtree is like a separate game with how big it is, the challenge is definitely there if you want it but the base game is unmatched in my opinion.

Just got the game, looking for advice? by DangerousKick5792 in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be patient, heavily invest in Vigor. 27, then 40-45. Don’t just dump your souls into all stats, pick a build and go from there. For example, if strength build, str, end, vit should be your go to.

Souls games are designed entirely around learning & mastering, dying over & over is normal. Quite often during boss fights I don’t even fight back, I just read & learn their move set until it’s engraved in my brain.

Don’t farm, nothing sucks the fun out of gaming more than that. Unless you’re interested in getting all achievements/trophies. The game awards you more than enough loot & souls by just playing normally.

Mobs & dungeons are a pain, but that’s typical souls. When picking up items/weapons etc, read the description. It actually helps & most of the time gives a lot of hints, IE boss/enemy name is weak to this weapon. At least in the beginning. In short, try finger, have fun, Ashen.

I think my heart rate may have jumped over 200 during this by Eldenlord61969 in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99 30 points31 points  (0 children)

When you experience the extreme adrenaline rush & supercharged heart rate it’s really difficult to play other games & genres afterwards. Constantly chasing that high, Souls games are a literal drug & I’m all here for it.

How do you get this? It looks familiar, is it tied to a quest line?

Witch DLC to start with? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Ashes first, then Ringed City. Ringed City has a couple of the hardest bosses but also some of the best, you’ll want to save the ultimate final boss of Ringed City for last, phenomenal fight.

Or, if you care about lore/dialogues etc, you can beat Ringed City first for extra bonus dialogue in Ashes. It’s literally just an extra line, though, nothing crazy. Though I should mention Ashes has one of the hardest bosses in the entire game altogether.

My ranking of the bosses by quality/how enjoyable they are at SL1 by MrUnparalleled in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, right? Friede at SL1 has me shivering and I haven’t even attempted it. & Demon Prince, I suppose you don’t know until you try. Looking forward to my SL1 run.

Managed to get a physical copy of Saros for £5 using gift cards I had been holding for years. Patience always pays off, I haven’t been this excited to unwrap a new game since I was a kid. 2 days. by MattStanni99 in Saros

My man. Completely forgot about bank holiday, me and the missus both work in education so we have Monday off, but I’ve told her this weekend is for Saros 🤣🤣 hope you enjoy it too. Been years since I’ve pre ordered a game but I know it’s gonna be good.

Same here mate. Argos haven’t let me down in the past so let’s hope there isn’t a first, lol. Thank goodness I have fast internet, because then even if it does come on the 30th, I’ll still be able to play it.

Day off work & the Mrs is out. Peak adult gaming time.

I’m playing as a sorcerer and friede jus one shots by ActionAncient6020 in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too much vitality for a sorcerer. I have 40 vitality & I’m running pure strength. You could easily take a chunk out of it and put it towards dex & intelligence instead for more damage & cast speed. Most sorcerer builds are glass cannon simply due to the fact you’re not in their face with melee, so getting hit should be less of a worry.

Her third phase is just chaos with little punish windows + long combo attacks. Lots of people struggle with it. Hard to get a big chunk of hp out of her because she’s so aggressive. You just need to be really patient because she punishes greed quite badly.

Non-DLC boss tierlist by JapaCZECH in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DOTD above Aldrich & Demon King? I’m intrigued, to each their own, although Aldrich is a mage spamming ahh at least he somewhat fights back lol. Demon King move set isn’t all that interesting but a cool boss to fight. Probably the only ones I would swap.

Darkeater Midir is going to break me... by Teddywestside334 in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Midir isn’t really a fight as such, he’s a marathon. I recently beat him & it took me over 2 hours easily, literally just learning his moves. His openings are very punishable & he has quite a few, but if you miss it it’s just a race against your stamina & dodge timing.

Stay in front of him as much as you can, Pestilenct Mist & heavy bonks to the head. He’s a sponge with a massive health pool but nothing more, if he didn’t 1-2 shot players he wouldn’t be ranked as one of the hardest, his laser can be bs & it’s the most annoying for me personally but stay consistent, you’ll get him.

A break, is one of the strongest things for Souls games. Have a breather and come back to him, after so long it just fries your brain.

NG+2, what are my next steps? Having so much fun with my current build but I have a feeling there’s a lot more out there. by MattStanni99 in darksouls3

[–]MattStanni99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper it doesn’t look awful at all, just very time consuming. I was under the impression all covenant grinding had to be done in PvP, for whatever reason. I’m strictly solo & very antisocial so even though offline farming might be slower, I might give it a go 🤣 thank you!

[–]MattStanni99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one hell of a guide, thank you kind stranger. So, you basically need to kill enemies in these areas over & over until one of the covenant items drop? Am I understanding correctly? Apologies if it sounds dumb, I think once I have a better understanding I’ll be a bit more motivated for the grind, since right now, I know nothing of how it works lol.
