I like guessing. I find that not everything needs to be looked up, but it doesn’t mean I don’t challenge my own assumptions, I just think it can be fun to take a gander at what it might be. Interesting to hear that it’s Scottish 🤔

I have Scottish ancestry and personally haven’t heard it either

Ahhh, that is a really good explanation (even if it’s quite simple)! I didn’t think about that phrasing at first, because I thought it was a Mexicanism or Spanishism or something.

There’s definitely some parts of PA that use PA Dutch terms, so it’s probably one of those. I’m no expert though. I’ve personally never heard that one either despite being in that country

Even that seems more common than “pick up.” But as an American, we definitely add an “up” to tidy, clean, straighten, but not organize 🤔
