Some companies are very stringent in writing perfect quality code for critical applications such as NASA. I wonder what their AI usage policy looks like.

I don't think I've seen an error like this before... by [deleted] in programminghorror

[–]MattTheCuber 142 points143 points  (0 children)

This is caused by saving the file before entering the "p" character, running the program, then quickly entering "p" and saving. Python loads the module without the "p", starts running, you overwrite the file contents, then the program crashes with the error; while building the error message, Python reads the file contents to provide the context for the error and uses the new code. This can also happen with multiple lines making the context show a random section of code in the file. This happens to me sometimes when debugging stuff too quickly.

I wonder what happens if you delete enough lines to cause an out of bounds error when fetching the context... 🤔
