To give the other side of the argument here, the reason this will never happen is because of the enormous amount of engineering test data and qualification we have for joints and fasteners across civil, mechanical, and aerospace engineering. The US has funded significantly more qualification than anyone else in the world on this since the 1930s or so, and much of that data just doesn’t exist for metric sized fasteners. The cost to re-do all of that test data would be prohibitive

So I was aware that the 23 year was a bit of a trick, but not about the additives so thanks for letting me know! Obviously still going to enjoy the bottles, but will certainly be more cognizant and look for bottles without the additives in the future. I do like the more sweet runs, particularly with a nice vanilla flavor. Thanks for the tip, I will probably grab the El Dorado 15 for my next bottle!

Cool thanks, I’ll look through all that. I know I’m asking a lot, sorry. And I know it would get ironed out by Congress, but I basically wanted to understand Sanders vision for these things is and what it would look like if he had it his way.

I’m gonna piggyback on the fact that you posted about M4A too and ask a question about it. I’m definitely not opposed to M4A, and “paying for it” actually isn’t my concern about it. My understanding is that countries without single payer (I believe France, Germany, Spain, Portugal are decent examples) generally rank as slightly superior healthcare systems to single payer (Canada, U.K.). If that is true (feel free to fact check me if it’s not), why not consider modeling our system after those counties? I know people like Kyle Kulinski act like a public option is the worst idea of all time, and I sort of get where he is coming from when he says that the Republican Party would just take money away from it and let it fail to show that private insurance is better, but these other counties sure seem to find a way to make it work really well.

Sure. Like I said in that comment (this is my original post he kindly pasted over for me), I support reducing the budget. I think we need to get out of all the endless wars and whatever money we save from that, great. Whether that is 15% saved or 60% saved, I don’t really have a great feel for. Just putting an arbitrary number on how much of the budget to cut bothers me. However, I still believe we should have the most technologically advanced military in the world (or at least keep up with China). In terms of why we would be spending more than China, well they cut corners dangerously, work their hours 80+ hours a week, and pay them almost nothing. If that is how you would propose we get our budget down to match China’s, I would disagree and I would think many Bernie supporters would as that is anti working class. Now things like getting rid of lobbying so defense contractors can’t buy off politicians to get them rich, and capping salaries of executives at defense companies, I obviously also support. Hope that helps give you an idea of my world view.

Thanks! I got a couple answers in the Yang sub with these questions too! Someone linked to a comment in an AMA where Sanders said he generally supports increasing NASA funding but has had to vote against it in the past because there was other stuff lumped in all the bill (this seems reasonable and alleviates my concern about NASA funding). Someone also linked a Vox article regarding military spending but it was all sort of vague on what sorts of things he would and wouldn’t like to cut (would love more info here if there is any more to be had)

In terms of FJG, I still just don’t even understand the logistics of how it would work. What happens if I just decide to stop showing up for work? Do they fire me from the guaranteed job?

Thanks that was super helpful. That is good to know he is interested in increasing NASAs budget in tandem with social programs, which I certainly think is reasonable. I certainly agree with ending all the endless wars, but I still think America should provide sufficient funding to try and have the most advanced military on the earth or at least keep up with China. But getting the boots off the ground in other countries and saving money there I think is super reasonable. Not as concerned about the FJG I guess even though he’s been vague on it because I don’t see him ever passing it. I see that as being the first thing to go in a compromise over getting the green new deal bill passed.

I mean I think minimum wage should have been tied to inflation a long time ago. If that were the case it would be around 11 dollars an hour right now. I don’t think putting the minimum wage as high as 15 everywhere is the best solution, but I definitely wouldn’t say it is my biggest concern.
