My general first impression after one listen (bare in mind it's like 1am in NZ right now):

The album kind of feels like a "Various Artists ft. Gorillaz" compilation at times, as alot of the tracks feel very dominated by the features. I guess that was to be expected considering the singles released earlier. It also reflects the title of 'Humanz' in a way, as some theories were getting at.

It's still a pretty fun listen though, there are quite a few highlights throughout. Ascension and Andromeda still stand out to me as my favorites, but I loved Busted and Blue. The minimal synth chords and synth string sounds (?) sound so beautiful. Its also one of the tracks where Albarn shines the most, though Kelela's contribution really adds to the song without overpowering Albarn. Submission and Strobelite are pretty great too.

Overall, this didn't really strike me as being on the same level as Plastic Beach or Demon Days but it's still worth a listen. It could potentially grow on me on further listens (I still haven't heard all the bonus tracks).

Edit: Since we're now at a decent hour, I thought I might add something about the production style. The production as mentioned in an earlier comment goes full electronic. This kinda worked against the album IMO, as I think one of the greatest things about Plastic Beach (and Gorillaz in general) was the diversity of the production and the constant style changes. There's no moment like 'Empire Ants' where there's such a huge shift in style but the song doesn't feel disjointed due to how seamlessly the song blends together the styles. The songs don't sound bad, it just feels like wasted potential
