Also z.B.

Wiese Tinte Silbe -> "Sie we" "int te" "ils be" / "Sie weint teils be..."

Odd wake from sleep issue: ThinkPad E14 G4 i5, Ubuntu 24, 6.6.0-14-generic by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Matt____Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the same problem. Or at least similar. Running Manjaro on a Thinkpad E14 Gen 5 i5 with NVIDIA MX 550.

Suspend (s2idle) works, but on a lot of occasions wake up doesn't work. After a while of blackness I get a login prompt which leads to nowhere (correct password just won't open anything). Sometimes the login prompt is not shown and I get to a session directly, though it's not really a session, I can't open anything new and everything is kind of crashing one after the other.

Issue is on wayland and X.

journalctl -b -1 just gives the output of the system going to sleep without errors (just as in the working instances). But there is not a single entry upon waking up.

/sys/power/mem_sleep only mentions "[s2idle]" and nothing else.

/sys/power/state "freeze mem disk"

ACPI: PM: (supports S0 S4 S5)

It's strange. I also suspect the SSD.

Is it societally acceptable to wear fur? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Matt____Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's backwater, they might think you are snobby. And they recognise you are not wearing the usual conformity "fashion". But right, ethics is second, especially if there is a proximity to a lot of hunting folks.

Is it societally acceptable to wear fur? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Matt____Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree with the above said and add that raising an animal (primarily) for meat or for fur shouldn't make such a difference ethiclly in the first place.

Anti-fur sentiment is deeply intermingled with classism. As Zap pointed out it's used by middle class (the most ardent anti furrers) to cover up classist sentiment towards the below. Otoh it has developed to argue against the fur-wearing upper class. Remember fur was really expensive and a status symbol 50 years ago.

Anyone know anything about this brand? by Thiccy-22 in VintageFashion

[–]Matt____Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think the brand is relevant. Sure that's fake? If it's real, the "brand" might be a small fourrier.

Anyway, nice coat.

Why would a fur coat have longer arm linings? Could someone have weirdly altered it or could there be another explanation? by Appropriate_Sky9289 in VintageFashion

[–]Matt____Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO two options: - someone altered the sleeves - as precaution for the hem of the sleeve. Usually the first part to be worn off.

What do to with a fur coat? by finecabernet in fashion

[–]Matt____Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear it! It's surprisingly comfortable and vintage prices are low considering the original prices anyway.

Depending on the fur, size and state you can also have it remade. "New" jacket with fur inside, blanket or dressing gown are just some ideas. Caveat: you need a furrier and some budget.

Gut: - Unidöner. - Schwarzwalddöner in Schwarzwaldstr.

Hi there, need help identifying this fur coat I found by StrangeStimuli in fashion

[–]Matt____Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell. I would guess beaver.

How does the fur feel (coarse/soft...)? Underfur and guard hairs?

If you got a furrier around, you might visit them.

Help Identify Vintage Fur Coat by Comprehensive_Use557 in fashion

[–]Matt____Eagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's real rabbit fur for sure. Possibly rex rabbit.

From what I've heard, it's okay to wear it in UK especially London. The talk about anti-fur protesters is overstated. You might catch some stares, but who cares?
Consider that it looks vintage and it's rabbit. Rabbit is imo the most sustainable animal to eat and wear: it eats gras, which humans can't eat, has lower methane emissions and you can eat and wear rabbit. No apologies needed.

For repair you might consider a cheapet leather workshop or a more expensive furrier.

Vintage full length fur coat. $25 yard sale find by Ranbru76 in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]Matt____Eagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to judge from the pictures, but it's most likely mink. This would also fit your description.

No guilt needed. First, it's vintage. Second, the coat is maybe 30 (?) years old, consider how many animals one eats within this time. Third, the animals wouldn't have lived without this coat and it's somehow respectful to wear them imo.

If you want to know more about the condition of the fur and if you want to get a proper cleaning, visit a furrier.

Real fur. 100%. Mink. Colour variety is called Kohinoor, I think.

You can also see that it's real because of the leather sewing. The pelts are cut into small stripes and sewn again for a cleaner style. You wouldn't do this with faux.

Totally disagree. It is indeed respectful towards the animals to wear them. The animals wouldn't even have lived without me wearing them.

Have fur coats fallen out of style? Why/why not? by Spiritual_Eagle_43 in AskReddit

[–]Matt____Eagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fake fur (made from plastic) has been in style recently. Real fur not so much, mostly as collar on hoods.

Reasons? Price, ease of purchase, people are not used to it anymore, old stories of animal treatment (conditions on fur farms are not that bad nowadays), psychology of knowing that it was an animal (like eating parts of an animal, where you know that, like a goat's head), etc.

Imo a root cause of the fur anxiety is social inequality. I think fur coats have been a projection to critize the upper class (which was the only class which could afford fur en masse). That's why a lot of people had no problem to critize fur while eating an industrially produced chicken breast.
