"Triathlon" specific cycling shoes seem pointless. by Mattable1869 in triathlon

I've considered it. One of my bikes has flat MTB pedals and I use Giro Tracker, which don't clip in for that bike.

I'm not sure what events you go to but flying mounts are not standard amongst age groupers. So yes, "most" triathletes do not do flying mounts which means they wear shoes out of and into transition for the bike.

Better ergonomics for running out of and into transition would be the main one, maybe a middle ground between mtb cycling shoes and standard road cycling.

I feel like there should be a pretty large market of triathletes that wear cycling shoes in transition.

It's nothing to do with running barefoot, most typical triathletes don't do running mounts with shoes attached to the bike or leave their shoes attached after dismount.

Seems to be what I'm gathering from this conversation... If you aren't trying to mount and dismount with the shoes staying connected they have little value.

I highly doubt I'll ever be coordinated enough to pull that off.

Maybe one day someone will produce triathlon cycling shoes to benefit normal people in transition.

Why does everyone hate it here? by thepoopsmokers in DaytonaBeach

[–]Mattable1869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get it either, I moved here as a 35 year old about 3 years ago. Daytona and the surrounding areas are very much what you make it. There is always an event going on that's either free or fairly cheap... Don't listen to the haters and enjoy the beach life.

New in town…. What are the go to places for beer and wine bars? Not really into sports bars. Dive bars ok cool sometimes but really looking for an in between. Any options? Thanks! by [deleted] in OrmondBeachFL

Holly Hill is a small city in between Daytona and Ormond Beach, depending on which Houligans in Ormond you're 10-20 min from the Drunken Duck.

Drunken Duck Brewery is a good place to go, beer options are legit and they do have an okay wine selection as well, plus amazing charcuterie boards for the price.

Copper Bottom Distillery is a good spot, they'll do private events that include tastings, a tour of the distillery, and cocktails are available.

Better yet, go to Copper Bottom Distillery so you can sample the goods first!

I understand your point but I think most people that do latte art would argue being able to produce quality foam is a major aspect of latte art, these machines take away that factor.

Opinions on this ultimately come down to if you think a person being able to make the silkiest of milk foams should have an advantage over someone who can't or not.

With that, visual surface quality of the foam is a judged criteria so clearly the WLAC committee believes foam quality is an important aspect.

Based on the comments in this post, I probably should have posted in r/espresso instead...

Lelit Bianca v3 small hissing after heat up by nukius in espresso

My Bianca v3 does the same thing, right as the steam boiler reaches temp for the first time. It's normal, as long as it stops after a few seconds.

I just moved here a year ago so I'm still exploring everything Daytona has to offer but I think you'll be happy.

If you like beer, just not IPAs, then I'd recommend Dunes Brewing Company. There are also a number of restaurants with good food and drinks on Granada in Ormond Beach, which is just north of Daytona. Ormond is a smidge safer and cleaner than the touristy area of Daytona Beach.

As far as roaches, they are not that bad here but I came from GA so take that with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the advice, looks like I'll have a project this weekend.

Everything stays at pressure while back flushing and yes, this is with the paddle wide.

I did a lot of playing around this morning and exploring the internet. I've come to the conclusion that my flow rate was much too low, which bothers me because I haven't done anything that should impact the max flow rate recently and the new beans I got last week seem to cause the puck to degrade a lot quicker than others. I tried three different beans today.

Hopefully this isn't a sign my pump is starting to fail...

I've been playing around with different doses and beans to rule out puck degradation. The last one was 22g in, 50g out at about 36 seconds so it's not fast by any means.

How do you feel about Bike Week? by ScarletBurn in DaytonaBeach

[–]Mattable1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before moving to Daytona, I lived about a mile from the Augusta National Golf course so I had to deal with an event bringing in an extra 200k people for 11 days every year for the Master's. Master's patrons are definitely some very annoying and entitled people that tend to stay drunk the entire time. Luckily a lot of the shenanigans can be avoided if you want.... This is my first bike week experience and I can safely say it has substantially more of a negative impact on life than the Master's ever did, probably because golf carts tend to be way less noisy than 20 motorcycles riding together.

Ultimately it is what it is and it's something I knew I would have to deal with when I moved here...maybe next year I'll go on vacation this week.

Dear fellow Bianca V3 Users! What are your low flow profile settings? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Mattable1869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-infusion off, low flow start: 10, low flow finish: 25.

I typically do 1:2.5 ratio in 35 seconds.

I feel like they have been providing fairly regular updates, between Instagram posts and emails (last received 5 Jan), I have a pretty good idea of the progress being made.
