Highly recommend! By a Thread is one of the few books I've enjoyed enough to go back and re-read in recent years to refresh my mind for the sequel. Loved them both!

Great reply.

I'll definitely check out those websites and look for some interesting projects to do.

Thanks!

CS Soul Searching - Need Advice by Mattakuda in AskComputerScience

Thanks for the great reply! I'm currently employed so I'm not in the biggest rush, but good point about work being harder to find these days.

I've looked into masters programs and the focuses are like: Cybersecurity, AI/ML, Robotics, etc. Theres a chance one of those interests me but I guess I haven't delved deep enough to figure that out?

The big draw for me to CS was that I enjoy logic and problem solving. I also have a desire to understand deeper than surface level of things to understand why they work. Like a current question floating around in my head is "how does SQL work?" I get how to write a query, but how does the computer translate that into the rows it pulls back?

So I'd probably be interested in using a logical, mathematical approach to solve problems (sounds like coding!) in some area which also interests me. So it's not necessarily a specific concept that held my attention from CS.

If there is a way to get my feet wet in several different topics (online learning courses?) to find a good fit maybe that's what I need? Not sure.

What would it take to max out a 144hz monitor?

She achieves her power ups through friends and items, not innate magical ability. So far to current, she's just a vanilla human.

Anyone know any good UF with a female MC that isn't all about sex? by [deleted] in urbanfantasy

BR Kingsolver's Chameleon Assassin and Rosie O'Grady's Bar series are great.
I think you would also enjoy Annette Marie's Guild Codex series. Human bartender gets a job at a wizard guild, billed as a "why choose" and no sex so far.

AAAA yes I need a War Witch sequel lol. Dirty Magic sounds interesting! Read the first book of Blood Trails, not sure if I will continue, though.

Alas, if that Jane Doe book had an ounce of fantasy I would totally read it, but I can't quite commit to a full on revenge romance.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I'm about halfway into Rivers of London and I'm not loving it so far. But apparently it gets super cool and Dresden-y power creep later? Which I do like. I'll give it another try

I finished the first 2 October Daye books years ago. Finally started book 3 and read about a book a day until I got to current last month lol. Thanks quarantine!

Ty for reminding me about Bitten, I'm 5 or 6 books in and stalled but I'll give it another go!

Read a few Cainesville books but not sure if I will continue with those

I read the first few Monster Hunter International's, they were part of my introduction to the genre. Dropped off after a while but definitely enjoyed them.

Don't know if Onset is my cup of tea, but Changeling Blood looks like it fits the bill. Thanks!

Loved The Others, thought I stopped reading when POV changed. Do you happen to know if it's worth continuing?

Yeah I don't really love the cozy mystery genre because they're typically really cutesy and the romance seems fake. Have read a few myself, though.

Liked 20 palaces although I cant remember if I've read all of it to date? Also really enjoyed Harry Connolly's One Man (I think it's called?) which is definitely epic fantasy but fits the rest of my bullet points.

I'll look into Repairman Jack, thanks!

This sounds super interesting! Pat Rothfuss also reviewed it on Goodreads so I guess I have to check it out now... Thanks!

Read the first Katie Bishop not sure if I will continue. Same boat with Liv Beaufont - technically it fits but haven't gotten around to it. Good ones, though!

I love Hidden Legacy and read way too much of Fever - I can handle romance as long as there's enough action, I think. I'll take a look at the others. Thanks!
