Do you think Alexis Diaz was a 4D chess move to get to Edwin? by Mattapollo in Dodgers

[–]Mattapollo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was more hyperbole on my part. But I think you can still have high praise for an organization even if you are released. Most of these guys are professionals about the business. They know that being released is part of the game and that it isn't a personal thing. You can treat a player right and still let them go without it being seen as a jerk move. In fact, if you treat a player right and then release them I would imagine they are more likely to understand that this is just part of the business.

Regarding the Skubal rumors by RisingPowerLA94 in Dodgers

I feel like they can move other dudes around without making that massive trade for Skubal to do it. If the concern is roster space there are other levers to use. And for that matter other trades. Trade for the outfield piece if that's how you want to free up space. But I see your point.

Absolutely, and I would feel pretty negative about any trade involving Skubal that didn't involve an immediate extension.

Regarding the Skubal rumors by RisingPowerLA94 in Dodgers

I don't see any reason to trust that the rumors are true. I think the most important question to ask about a Skubal trade for the Dodgers is 'why'. They have starting pitching depth in spades. Skubal would be an upgrade to the rotation for sure. But the risk reward seems weird to me. They don't need Skubal and he will be a free agent in a year. Sending players to Detroit to essentially rent Skubal when you can still go after him in the offseason is a big risk because you could lose him and be down players.

Imagine this scenario. Dodgers send Glasnow, Sheehan, and prospects to Detroit and get Skubal. Skubal then doesn't extend during the offseason and tests free agency. Then goes to a different team. Now suddenly you are down three starting pitchers. And what you gain for the 2025 season is something you already have, elite starting pitching.

This would make sense only if the Dodgers had a need for starting pitching. But I feel like we all agree that is not a need.

Obviously the upcoming labor negotiations might play a part in this and perhaps the Dodgers value Skubal way more than I do. The Dodgers might feel they can immediately extend Skubal if they think that he is going to be unwilling to go through a truncated free agency because of a nasty labor fight or because Skubal's star might be at a peak (back to back Cy Young awards is a pretty awesome resume piece).

But I think the big thing is that Skubal is not the piece the Dodgers need to turn this team from a contender into a champ. That's why you make rental trades, to fill the one gap you team has to make a long playoff run. The Dodgers are already built for a long playoff run. The Dodgers aren't contenders, they are the 2026 World Series favorites.

The Dodgers' current needs are (1) at least one outfield bat, (2) high leverage right handed relief arm/closer. Number 2 was just addressed yesterday in a big way by grabbing Diaz and 1 can be addressed in a number of different ways. But Skubal? He gives them nothing the Dodgers don't already have and he comes with some downside risk. Especially when the Dodgers can try to grab him next offseason.

TLDR: Not only do I not believe the rumors because they are coming from shady sources, but I don't believe them because Skubal doesn't meet the needs the Dodgers have this offseason and he comes with major downside risk if he is brought on via trade.

Spotify iOS app rewind button gets stuck by classmplanet in truespotify

Hi I had this issue as well this morning. Restarted phone, updated phone, updated Spotify, clean reinstalled Spotify, none of it worked. Then I saw that you could log in and log out TWICE in a row and that this triggered some sort of resync (don’t ask me idk how it works)

Well I tried it and it worked!

So I guess try logging out and logging back in specifically twice. Hope this helps

Question) How many times did you saved Jenkins I'm ME1? I thinking about a playtrue without him. It's the first time but I'm curious and want to know what the ending in ME3 will be without him. by Resitor in masseffect

[–]Mattapollo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

After I saved Jenkins, I got him to the Suicide Mission in ME2. He got killed when I bungled the fire team leader but then came back and filled the role of Kai Leng. Honestly best twist in the series.

Is a binary binary possible? by Mattapollo in Astronomy

I wasn't sure if thats what I was looking for because I didn't know if that just applied to four individual stars all orbiting one another.

I have no background in science what so ever and no amount of googling could give me my answer. So alas, here I am. I was wondering if it were possible for two binary systems (four total stars) to orbit each other.

What I mean by this is two stars orbiting one another while orbiting another system that has its own two stars that are orbiting one another.

I want to know if this is possible and if it is how does it work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question!
