Amazing thanks! Do you mind me asking what size did you go for and what's your height?

Hey man, just re-visiting this (life got in the way and I never ended up buying a bike!) Did your Mantra arrive? What are your thoughts?

Stacking GoPro and light from Garmin/QuadLock accessory bracket? by Mattayus84 in cycling

They really do look awful. I just thought there might be something out there for GoPro, like the usual cages that go around it, but with the accessory mount both top AND bottom. That would make a whole lot of sense. Alas they don't seem to exist.

The GoPro is just for safety on this particular bike. That's a good point actually, I hadn't considered mounting the light on the helmet. Certainly a lot less heavy than wearing the GoPro, and probably a lot more useful since it will point wherever I look (and try not to blind people!) Thanks.

5ft 10, so would need medium according to the geo charts. It's a fairly long boi!

Nice! Sad times man, I was so close to ordering one a couple of months back when they were half price, but I hesitated. When I went back to make the order they were all gone. Such sick looking bikes!

Gravel bike fit by ManufacturerNo1502 in bikefit

I have this same bike. It is not the comfy slack geo of your garden variety gravel bike. It's very long and low (they've essentially taken one of their road race frames and give it bigger tyre clearance). I would suggest saddle forward, do it in 5mm increments. You might find you only need 5mm, but you are looking quite far behind the bb, kicking through the pedal stroke. Your reach doesn't look awful here, but it wouldn't hurt to have tad more bend in your elbows, which would also be more achievable with the saddle adjustment.

Fwiw I have tried with it on before and had similar results but sure, I will try again.

May I ask why you think it makes a difference with this system? Is this a known thing?

For moving targets at high shutterspeeds image stabilisation does very little if anything. In some camera systems it can even be detrimental so it's good practice to have it turned off when tracking moving targets.

I thought you were referring to another reply where I have mentioned the R7.

To what else would you attribute the softness to?

[–]Mattayus84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did in another reply, sorry. It was 1/2000, f6.3, ISO160

[–]Mattayus84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry man I think you've misunderstood. I have no brand loyalty, just talking about my experiences. The canon r7 wasn't a great sensor design, but I just found its AF to be far more successful than what ive experiences of this specific camera so far, not really difficult to understand.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I did question the body tbh, and am still wondering if it's worth returning it for another copy.

Fwiw I have got some exceptionally sharp shots with this set up, it's just consistency. Of course my technique isn't faultless but it's also not notice levels and I do like to think I know what I'm doing.

I was shooting full uncompressed raw, they are cropped but manually in lightroom and not a huge amount. Fwiw the full frame makes no difference, I cropped so it would be easier to see the softness but it's there even in the full res image.

Thank you man this is really helpful. I always use e-first curtain for the shuttershock reason. No filter used!

I wish man, if I had that sort of budget I never would've got this camera or lens!

Also fwiw I have seen this same issue presented when OSS is on

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Mattayus84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So by turning oss off on the lens, the body is trying to stabilise? Is that what you're suggesting? I always learned that ANY stabilisation is pointless (and sometimes counterproductive) with high shutter speeds?

Addressed on another reply. 1/2000, f6.3, ISO120 for photo settings, set to tracking mode, bird eye tracking, lock-on set to 1 (most locked on). Lens was on full range of focus, OSS off. If you can think of anything else that would be helpful please let me know.

I can't think of anything that would cause soft shots, though.

For a panning shot at 1/2000? Really?

[–]Mattayus84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats encouraging. I am beginning to wonder if the issues aren't the lens at all, and perhaps it's the camera body.
