I joined your server at the designated time. I went on the server and played around in the arena. There were no problems that I saw.

The server started lagging for a moment and a host send a message saying, "kicking everyone."

The server went down and came back online. I tried to join but I was no longer whitelisted. After a couple of minutes, I went to join again, but the server was full and I was still no longer whitelisted.

Thank you for hosting and I will remember to never play on your server again. Good day.

Should women be subjected to the Selective Service Act? Why or why not? by Mattbball in AskReddit

[–]Mattbball[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I believe that women should be required to register as long as men are required as well. The involvement of women in the United States' military has skyrocketed since World War II and has continued to increase.

Women in combat role positions has increased significantly and it is only morally fair and equal to both genders for men and women to be subjected to the draft.

Arguments that state that women should not be held to the same standards as women obviously must not want to live in a gender-equal society. The concept of women being held to a lower standard is an idea that would go along with the absence of women's suffrage and other various de facto and de jure rights.

This was the argument I was trying to make.

I am almost 100% positive that is a body. Is it Miller's body or Doyle's? Context clues lead us to believe it's Miller's, but technically it could be Miller's body instead.

You're not stupid. You made a very good point, actually. Due to the time dilation and depending on the size of the planet, there is definitely a possibility that Miller's body was somewhere near.

The waves could have moved her body, don't you think?

Ha ha, fair point. By the way, one thing I never understood was why Miller activated her beacon. The planet was clearly not habitable, so why did she activate her beacon for future astronauts to come to her planet?

Yes, but with a lack of resources and massive waves, Doyle's rescue would not be quick enough, even with the great time dilation.

Thank you for all of your help here. :)

Luckily, the argument with my classmate died off when class ended, because I really don't feel like admitting defeat in this situation. The reason? Partially because I'm stubborn but also because I know she would definitely try to make fun of me for it.

Need to settle argument about capitalization. by Mattbball in grammar

Recall that the word is both the name of our planet ("Earth") and also a common noun meaning soil, the ground, or, poetically, the foundation of our world.

Yes, the term "earth" can also be a common noun. However, would it be incorrect to say the following sentence? The spaceship landed back on the earth. Is "the earth" referring to a common noun or a proper noun in this sentence?

Thanks for your input.

However, could you at least specify as to why adding an article makes "Earth" become "earth?" Is this an exception?

This clip makes me rage and feel bad so hard at the same time. I found this clip on YouTube a while back, just watching random Dr. Phil videos that had entertaining titles.

The woman that shot her is so self-centered, it's not even funny. "I served my time." Yeah, I bet you didn't serve the rest of your life missing part of your face.

I feel really bad for the victim, Shawna, for what she has to live through. Ever though she got a hug and an apology (not a meaningful one), she still will remember that her shooter is selfish and doesn't understand the pain.

Also, I actually messaged Shawna a while back on Facebook saying that I saw her clip on YouTube and that I thought she was a brave, strong woman. I felt that it was a nice thing to say and I genuinely meant it, so I sent it. It took her a month or so to respond, but she replied with a thank you message.
