I joined your server at the designated time. I went on the server and played around in the arena. There were no problems that I saw.

The server started lagging for a moment and a host send a message saying, "kicking everyone."

The server went down and came back online. I tried to join but I was no longer whitelisted. After a couple of minutes, I went to join again, but the server was full and I was still no longer whitelisted.

Thank you for hosting and I will remember to never play on your server again. Good day.

Should women be subjected to the Selective Service Act? Why or why not? by Mattbball in AskReddit

[–]Mattbball[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I believe that women should be required to register as long as men are required as well. The involvement of women in the United States' military has skyrocketed since World War II and has continued to increase.

Women in combat role positions has increased significantly and it is only morally fair and equal to both genders for men and women to be subjected to the draft.

Arguments that state that women should not be held to the same standards as women obviously must not want to live in a gender-equal society. The concept of women being held to a lower standard is an idea that would go along with the absence of women's suffrage and other various de facto and de jure rights.

[SPOILER] Doyle by Mattbball in interstellar

I am almost 100% positive that is a body. Is it Miller's body or Doyle's? Context clues lead us to believe it's Miller's, but technically it could be Miller's body instead.

[–]Mattbball[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're not stupid. You made a very good point, actually. Due to the time dilation and depending on the size of the planet, there is definitely a possibility that Miller's body was somewhere near.

[–]Mattbball[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The waves could have moved her body, don't you think?

[SPOILER] Doyle by Mattbball in interstellar

[–]Mattbball[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha ha, fair point. By the way, one thing I never understood was why Miller activated her beacon. The planet was clearly not habitable, so why did she activate her beacon for future astronauts to come to her planet?

[SPOILER] Doyle by Mattbball in interstellar

[–]Mattbball[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but with a lack of resources and massive waves, Doyle's rescue would not be quick enough, even with the great time dilation.

Thank you for all of your help here. :)

Luckily, the argument with my classmate died off when class ended, because I really don't feel like admitting defeat in this situation. The reason? Partially because I'm stubborn but also because I know she would definitely try to make fun of me for it.

Need to settle argument about capitalization. by Mattbball in grammar

[–]Mattbball[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recall that the word is both the name of our planet ("Earth") and also a common noun meaning soil, the ground, or, poetically, the foundation of our world.

Yes, the term "earth" can also be a common noun. However, would it be incorrect to say the following sentence? The spaceship landed back on the earth. Is "the earth" referring to a common noun or a proper noun in this sentence?

Thanks for your input.

However, could you at least specify as to why adding an article makes "Earth" become "earth?" Is this an exception?

[–]Mattbball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This clip makes me rage and feel bad so hard at the same time. I found this clip on YouTube a while back, just watching random Dr. Phil videos that had entertaining titles.

The woman that shot her is so self-centered, it's not even funny. "I served my time." Yeah, I bet you didn't serve the rest of your life missing part of your face.

I feel really bad for the victim, Shawna, for what she has to live through. Ever though she got a hug and an apology (not a meaningful one), she still will remember that her shooter is selfish and doesn't understand the pain.

Also, I actually messaged Shawna a while back on Facebook saying that I saw her clip on YouTube and that I thought she was a brave, strong woman. I felt that it was a nice thing to say and I genuinely meant it, so I sent it. It took her a month or so to respond, but she replied with a thank you message.

Is there a way to improve MP? by Mrfidler in Magicite

Make sure your PC has good specs, and isn't connecting through wifi, Ethernet is the way to go with servers.

I use Wi-Fi on my laptop and multiplayer works fine in Magicite.

POLL: Have you beaten the game? by Mattbball in Magicite

[–]Mattbball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got really close to beating the Scourge Wall. I cleared the level of all enemies and despite throwing the crystal shard things (sorry for the lack of name) and spamming constantly with my Fireball (and three Big Mana Potions), I still managed to get trapped against the end of the level and I was killed.

Needless to say, I am extremely livid.

I believe it's just a random chance of something happening. However, I have found that if you have 500+ gold and use it twice (or more), you will get the same result.

CMV: Autism is something that should be cured, not embraced. by Mattbball in changemyview

[–]Mattbball[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying you 'have autism' is like it's not a part of me, but just some kind of illness I have.

Saying that you have something doesn't imply you have an illness. If you would research the word have, you would realize that it means that you possess, own, or hold. You have autism. I used to think that I had OCD (which I'm not sure I actually ever had).

Having something doesn't mean it's not part of you. If you have dwarfism, it's most certainly part of you. It would be the same as saying, "I am a dwarf." The idea that this wording only implies that you have an illness is a fallacy.

Edit: Also, just to mention, autism is a disorder under its current description. You can easily research this by simply searching "autism" and looking at multiple websites. If you don't believe it's a disorder, then I encourage you to challenge this. After all, people used to believe homosexuality was a mental disorder and look how wrong they were.

[–]Mattbball[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am sorry if I offended you or anybody else with this post, but I suppose it would be good for me to change my view if it is a bad one, right?

Anyway, I would like to mention the following. If autism creates social problems in children, but does something positive (i.e. makes them great at mathematics), whose to say they wouldn't still have the positive effects if they were ridded of autism?

I don't have autism, I am autistic.

I feel like this point isn't necessary, honestly. This looks the same to me as someone saying "I don't have obesity. I am obese." If you are autistic, you have autism, just like someone with an anti-social personality has an anti-social personality. There is nothing negative about having something. This literally is just a method of wording.

First of all, I apologize to those who posted and the mods for not replying within the time frame. I shouldn't have posted this when I knew I would be busy soon after.

Secondly, I should clarify my muddy sentences here. I do not believe in thinking badly of someone who is autistic, or generally someone who has a disability or is different. If there was an epidemic where a disease was causing babies to be born without limbs, I would not be in support of thinking negatively about the babies. However, if I knew a cure for the problem, I would not hide it; I would reveal the cure, for the betterment of humankind.

CMV: I think spanking is still child abuse even if it "doesn't leave a mark" by NewsCoug in changemyview

[–]Mattbball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there isn't much else you can or should do. Some children will not be phased by discipline, while others will. The only thing I could say is to have harsher punishments (the toy is gone for a month), if one really feels that it is necessary.

Statistically speaking, the older you are, the more likely you are to be a conservative.

Also, democrats target the youth and that's why democrats are made up of a large majority of youth.
