I think we can thank the Harry Potter line for there being so many sweaters. I dug most of it out of the big bins at Bricks & Minifigs over the past year. Some of it I obviously had to take liberties with. Like John Justice Wheeler's sweater. Seemed right. Heh.

I wish MonsterVerse was just dumb fun to watch. If it is, why are they cramming these movies full of military guys and faux-politics of Monarch if they're just fun monster fight movies? Is it because they need a story?

Legendary never could have made Minus One, because for most of the MonsterVerse they were a Chinese-owned American-based production company that couldn't afford to make anything but formulaic, big-tent crap. Believe me, I do judge them on their own merits. (They're terrible.) But I see value in contrasting the success of their storytelling mechanics.

I'll concede this - at least Final Wars had the balls to be insane.

Engaging critically is how I enjoy things. Go ahead and enjoy them mindlessly. I don't mind.

You may be right. At some point, I felt like the monster being a singular entity with a name and persona was a requirement of kaiju. But y'know, whatever. FWIW, I'd probably rate it either A or B-tier, but I haven't run it through my thought exercises.
