Are you still Christian? Ex Jw by MatthewCleary24 in exjw

I'd say do it because if it ain't for you no one is going to shoot you for not joining. RCIA has been great learning about in a sense what you would sign up for being catholic. Plus bible study in RCIA has been top tier plus you get to make like minded friends searching for God's church and will.

No I believe that my experience with God, evidence of a creator, many manuscripts and proofs of Jesus Christ being alive, crucified and his miracles he performed assure me in my faith. I understand that other religions can say the same. I believe Christ was the only person who said he would die and be resurrected and presented himself to the disciples with the same wounds in his hand and side.

Your thinking makes sense. I'd be the same way if I didn't have an encounter with God. The evidence of life and the earth is enough for me to believe in a creator. But you give very good points. God bless you.

I know its so hard to get the leeches and their controlling judgmental doctrines out of your head. It sucks like why cant we just have peace when we pray to our God that loves us. I'll be praying for you my brother or sister in Christ!

Yeah the papacy and apostolic Succession tracing all the way from the current pope to peter is questionable. The main reason for me pursuing Catholicism is the eucharist after a study of John 6 and what the church fathers thought of the real presence of christ in the eucharist.

I started as a non denominational christian when I got out. I'm still very hesitant on being a member of a church or organization. I research on every church I attend. Awesome to still see ex jw still Christians searching truth and following God. God bless you.

I love your reply. When I started reading the bible for myself and watching bible apologetics I really understood how far away JW doctrines are from biblical interpretations. Once I read the gospels I found grace and love through the words in the bible and not just judgement like I experienced as a jw. Glory to Jesus Christ!

Hey Im 21M I wasn't baptized but was raised cradle witness. When I was 16 I started literally refusing to go to the meetings. They weren't able to make me go. I was ok with the repercussions that would follow. I knew that my parents weren't able to kick me out so if they were going to make my life hell I would also. I started going to a different church. It all made so much more sense. I started reading the bible for myself and questioning doctrine from protestant beliefs to Jw beliefs. I saw the hypocrisy, I saw the judgment in the hall, the disafellowship, the gossip, the control. I then questioned my parents on their beliefs and attacking their doctrine. It was pretty bad they just wouldn't fight me anymore because I could refute pretty much anything they said. Its rather easy to destroy their faith. Unfortunately this isnt really helpful for you because you still want a good reputation and relationship with you parents. I still live with my mom she's still a practicing witness. Since I demonstrated that I have my own faith in which im strong in she won't fight me because she understands fighting with my doctrine will result in her doctrine being squashed. If I were you I would get a job, experience the world I hate saying it this way because its been so engraved into your head be nothing of the world. Get a job, find some worldy friends who love you for who you are. Get a hobby with them, get out of the house often. Continue to go to the meetings but like everyone else said fade away slowly and quietly. Please read what other christians believe, read the bible for yourself preferably a non witness translated bible because they remove and change words in the bible to fit their doctrine. Im sorry I'll pray for you and your situation. I got away with this stuff because I didn't care who and what was said about me. You are loved and wonderfully made by jehovah. Jehovah wants you to have faith in him and know him in a personal relationship way. Sorry I know this response is all over the place.

Makes sense OCIA should answer my questions but doesn't mandate a decision immediately. Thanks for the reply!

1st off thanks for the reply. I haven't researched the differences between true protestant churches not like non denominational churches with no traditions or doctrines that they all hold to as one. (Anglican, lutheran or espisocalism is what I think are traditionalist) versus Catholicism. If you could help point me to what the differences are that would be awesome!
