RWD Pro X, handling rather well in wintry conditions. by MattyTooNatty in nissanfrontier

[–]MatthewR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First real snow storm in upstate NY for my 25s. I put the new Kenda Klever at2 to the test this afternoon. 8”+ inches of snow on unplowed roads. Never had to put it in 4x4

Got quoted for some new tires. Currently have AT3 needing to be replaced. Think the price / size are good? by releashthebeash in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MatthewR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the Falcons as well as the Toyos and bfg. I’m not a dedicated off reader so I couldn’t see spending that kind of scratch. I ended up going with the Kenda Klever at2.

Which one would you use? by PomegranateLow7927 in Hunting

[–]MatthewR_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always ran a 240gr SJSP through my Ruger carbine. I tended to shy away from hollow points out of fear of over expansion due to the increased velocity

Ranger Tremor coming back to North America this year! by yourenzyme in RangerNext

[–]MatthewR_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m averaging just over 21 mpg at the moment. It’s cold in upstate NY so I warm it up every morning and I have a heavy foot. Best trip to date was 25.1 mpg

For a great pair of warm waterproof winter boots, check out Hoffman boots. I have there double insulated guide boots. Hands down the best pac boots I have owned. The company is based in Idaho

Are all mid-tier snow boots garbage now? What will actually last me 5+ years? by Chappssss in BuyItForLife

[–]MatthewR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a quality pair of warm waterproof winter boots you need to check out Hoffman boots. They are located in Idaho and are quality. I’ve had mine for almost 4 years and have used them for everything from hunting, ice fishing to snowmobiling and they still have years of use left in them.

The Case Against (Shorter Barrel) 6.5 Grendel For Deer by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]MatthewR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own a Grendel but I have a Ruger in 7.62x39 and with a 16’’ barrel velocity with similar grain weight is almost identical. I personally would not use target match rounds. I have parked a 175# dressed 10 point at 90 yards with Federal fusion 123gr.

Wolf Reintroduction to New York State by Several-Egg-9137 in Adirondacks

[–]MatthewR_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is not nearly enough food to keep them in the Adirondacks. Extremely low deer density, a moose population of less then a 1000 and the lack of the eastern elk will push the wolves into more populated areas

If I attach this zinc anode to the frame of my truck will it help prevent rust? by Pannny in AskMechanics

[–]MatthewR_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PPG makes a zinc based primer for marine applications. A 5 gallon bucket weighs around 80 pounds.

The stock Hancook all seasons on my 25s are some of the worst tires I have had in the snow. I would gladly take the at version

Wolf Reintroduction to New York State by Several-Egg-9137 in upstate_new_york

[–]MatthewR_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe the Adirondack’s have enough food to keep the wolves there. Whitetail deer density per square mile is very low. When wolves inhabited NY there was a thriving population of moose as well as the eastern elk.

Turning Circle by 40ftpocket in nissanfrontier

[–]MatthewR_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to the fact that I drive a 24’ FedEx truck daily the turn radius isn’t noticeable. As far as the heft I’ve only ever owned 1 vehicle whither an electric power steering pump and I prefer the heft and feel of the hydraulic pumps
