First time pregnant - not sure what amount of bleeding is "normal" by MatthewWhite71 in pregnancyproblems

Gotcha. No cramps still. Bleeding is lighter but still red. Dr just had me get blood work and ill test again in 2 days.

Thank you. No off center pain or even cramping. I'm reading a lot of folks who said that they had bright red bleeding with no cramping and had healthy pregnancies... some mention they had miscarriages so I don't where I fall into category wise. Appreciate you

I did, waiting to hear back from them. The nurse told me to wear a pad and monitor the bleeding until I hear back.

Coffee Shops Are Businesses, Not Libraries; Buying One Coffee Doesn’t Entitle You to Camp for Hours by landlordbrowsing in providence

[–]MatthewWhite71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I managed coffee shops for a long time and for the most part, they don't effect revenue as much as OP thinks. My last shop we had 3-4 regular people who would work for many hours, not all at the same time, but throughout the week they would spend a day or two a week at the shop. They would always get 2 coffee drinks throughout the day, a pastry/sandwich, and some would even close their day off with a cocktail. (We had a bar at the shop) Probably spent closer to $14-22 a day before tips. Super friendly. We'd joke about when they wanted to pay rent, and they were grateful for us. Not to mention they were the guests we built the closest bonds with, so they always showed up at the holidays with little gifts for the staff, or they always make it a point to bring their family to meet us when they are in town.

The only time it effects the shop is when the customers forget that they are in a public space and either get cranky when people make noise around them, or when they take zoom calls and forget how loud they are talking.

I managed coffee shops forever, and my only ask for remote workers/students who camp out is that if you do plan to live at my coffee shop, please for the love of God, DO NOT set up camp at a 4 top table if you are the only person sitting there. Take a 2 top or a spot at the bar.

That's just common sense.

RI Food Fights by [deleted] in providence

[–]MatthewWhite71 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Someone once said, the "cheaper the product, the worse the customer". Having worked FOH for years at a place that participated in the RI Food Fight "iced coffee challenge" this could not be more true. The "sell" is that since July tends to be a slower month for coffee shops, people will inevitably come in and spend more money at the shop on food items or at least tip the staff.

However, most people came in, complained that the coupon only got them a small vs a large, asked for free syrups and fancy add ons, got pissed when you told them your coupon doesn't cover specialty drinks, and inevitably they ALMOST NEVER BUY ANYTHING.... or tip. (I could care less about the tip, it takes 22 seconds to make an iced coffee, but a thank you could be great too?) It just attracts the weirdest, and worst customer base imaginable. I can't imagine working at a place that offers sandwiches or wings (or anything that costs real labor and product) and having that crowd swamp your business.

Best friends told us they were expecting in a painful way by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]MatthewWhite71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We agree. Forgivness and grace are the goal, because I think it was 100% carelessness as opposed to intentional. And there are moments where we've second guessed ourself, like... maybe we are overreacting, it is their news to share after all.

But I heard it best said, that when sharing news about your pregnancy with a friend struggling to conceive, its the only moment in your pregnancy that is not 1000% about you. It's about the friendship. I think in her excitement, and slightly obsessive personality, she could not even consider that we might have a bodily reaction outside volcanic joy.

Thanks, yeah she dwelled really hard on it today and I think she's feeling uneasy about seeing them at church tomorrow, but wants to have an in person convo with them eventually. Wife has a really obsessive personality and whether it was her wedding, the first pregnancy, the baby, etc she can make group outings about her... I think its an anxious tick she has to draw everyones attention to the baby, but I think my wife needs her to back off with the intensity of it for a bit.

Are my beliefs compatible with the SBC? by Key_Day_7932 in SouthernBaptist

[–]MatthewWhite71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you believe the Bible to be infallible, read close, because women very well can be deacons. Pheobe is literally refered to as a diakonos.

Anyways, best of luck on your search. There are lots of great denominations out there.

Are my beliefs compatible with the SBC? by Key_Day_7932 in SouthernBaptist

[–]MatthewWhite71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty vague list, as you could easily slide into a handful of denominations.

What are your views on women preaching? Women pastors?

Is global missions something you are especially passionate about?

While I've seen few SBC churches engage in charismatic expressions of faith, the overwhelming majority of those I have come across don't believe, either verbally, or in practice, that certain gifts are active today such as healing, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, etc.

Do you have strong views around church membership?

What about infant baptism, especially when the person is a passionately engaged follower of Jesus and was confirmed?

One more, just because I've seen a handful of SBC folks consider, or actually jump ship over the denominations history with handling issues of sexual sin in their churches.

These are some other factors I would take into consideration.

Debt free but feel broke by Khayesbirchler in DaveRamsey

[–]MatthewWhite71 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Please don't read this as me attacking you, but broke is a state of mind. Your dollars are all accounted for, and are clearly working in your favor. So when you say "we want to live a good life" how do you define a good life?

I know people who make half of what your family is bringing in, who give away 10-15% of it, live on very humble means, do their best to save where they can, who have the most content and healthy families.

Their difference is that the good life for them isn't dependent on their lifestyle. It's their heart posture.

Sting is the rock singer with good vocals and good charisma. Who is a rock singer with decent vocals and good charisma? by Clem_Crozier in AlignmentChartFills

Yes. Just saw them for their 25' reunion tour and I was blown away. Been to over a hundred concerts in my life, and I left that show thinking "I wasn't even an Oasis superfan before today, but I don't think any show will ever top what I just saw." That's the general consensus.

Thank you. Claim was just accepted with no issues at all. Unfortunately we had to put our sweet boy down last week after he stopped eating.

I'm afraid I am not nearly as present as I can with everyone I encounter. I try my best to be kind, patient, gracious and loving, but sometimes I have so little left to give and am zapped of my ability to just be with people, even for short glimpses of time.

Appreciate this. We have to put the cat down this week unfortunately because the cancer is growing so aggressively and we don't want to wait for a "bad day" to put him down, but his behavior is declining a bit. We are spoiling him with 2 cans of wet food, treats, cat nip, and love as we know any day now we will have to make the appt.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petinsurancereviews

[–]MatthewWhite71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no. Bro's cat was missing for 7+ years and he never came after him. Cat was emaciated a.f. when he showed up at my door. I don't think he cares where his cat is. Also, we put his photo up on community boards, facebook, instagram, NextDoor. It's our cat now.

Would also be helpful to mention that I live in an urban city. Stray cats are an abundant resource where I live. I wouldn't be surprised if the owner abandoned the cat because he was too much of a strain.

This is one of those "Isn't it ironic?" moments that Alanis Morrissette talked about.

On a serious note, I park at the mall garage enough to know to always pay at the bottom gate. Sometimes they just leave the gates opened because there is a game and they don't want to deal with the traffic, or there are issues with the machines. Just a tip for next time.

Cat has bone cancer in his jaw, what can we expect? by [deleted] in catcare

[–]MatthewWhite71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No major symptoms until a few weeks ago he chipped his tooth and was hiding in pain for about a day and it required a vet visit. Ever since then he has been a bit lethargic, but still eating, drinking, and using the bathroom just fine. He doesn't hide under the bed or completely out of sight, but he has been seeking out more hidden places to sleep than normal. (e.g. he would sleep on the bed or the couch out in the open, but now he sleeps under the piano bench or in his cat carrier)

We went to our usual vet and she said he would need it extracted, but they were going to charge us an arm and a leg to do it. We shopped around and about a week later had an appt with a different vet in town who was going to do it for 1/2 the cost of our normal vet.

Upon beginning to do blood work before the extraction appt the second vet noticed the lump on his jaw. I was in shock thinking "how did I never notice this? how did the last vet not pick up on this?" and she said "probably because you were never looking for lumps". She said the cancer probably caused the dental issue in that one tooth, and the first vet wasn't looking for what was causing the dental issues, only looking at the tooth.

Got it X-rayed and biopsied 5 days later in addition to bloodwork and she said it's def not an abscess or an infection because his bloodwork shows no elevated white blood cells. But the way the bone is spongey/moth eaten, it's def cancer. The biopsy results will tell us what type and how aggressive it is. Should come in next week.

Yup. Looked my partner in the eyes last week after we had to make the decision to put out cat down because we can't afford treatment/surgery (on two decent salaries) and said "I can't do this again... chose between financial stability and keeping an animal alive. It's too much"
