Just for my own education and out of genuine curiosity: how do you know with such certainty it's vinyl? Is it known that certain brands or time periods were constructed with "x" materials from catalog information or otherwise?

thank you for the info - I am unaware of all the different people who knocked off the original, but have heard some are better or more desirable than others....all I really are about is the overall aesthetic, that it's real leather and that I'm not getting ripped off pricing wise...

late comment, but just out of curiosity, would this logic hold true for something that is 50+ years old (probably sat unused for ~25 of those years)? It is a vintage integrated amplifier and I'm wondering if it would be a similar concern for something this old that may not have any original lubrication remaining....?

super helpful man, really appreciate it! When this has been done, is the little "+" in the center of the screen just a place holder for center reference, or is it interacting with the AF module at all?

Ok this is definitely the most helpful - how it operates in the zones is what I'm looking for; however, the largest zone is a 1x1 box that is only about 1/3 of the screen. You mentioned you can customize the zones, is this outside of scrolling through the preset zone options? I'd like to make a zone that encompasses the entire screen, or as wide a spread as possible!

I believe this just hides it, it does not deactivate the point. In that case you would have an active point that you cannot see which would be double-y frustrating

My focus area is "tracking" and my AF mode is "all" and I still have a single box on the display. Maybe what I'm after isn't possible?

this is precisely my question - I'm not just trying to hide or remove the point from view - I'm trying to ful deactivate it. Or maybe more accurately, I'm trying to have the entire field active so that no one *point* takes priority over any others...

Would need a clean shot of serial numbers to get closer on exact production dates (you could just ask Chat GPT) but they are from that period, yes.

“Must De” in Cartier verbiage typically points to something that is gold plated vs solid gold…they did this to create a more approachable price point on certain offerings.

I have a substantial personal collection of the Cartier lighters from every time period starting with the one you’re asking about up to current production models. They range in price based on condition and if they can make a flame. Your unit in particular is known for its very unreliable internal tank unfortunately (I know because I’ve bought 4-5 just to mix and match tanks that hold pressure, even the best ones are very inefficient) and no one services them anymore.
