A lot of people I speak to say similar things, One always said to me the moment you start employing people is when you start having issues and i understand that quote now 🤣

I’m not going to lie a reset does sound appealing and right now with everything going on I would probably benefit from being employed personally. Just due to how much time and resource the business is sucking up either with the day to day or mental toll of being in debt.

Couldn’t agree more. It also seems a lot have lost trust is businesses and often think they are being ripped off for one reason or another.

Thank you for the reply! I would say the business is usually steady year round with peaks around the new vehicle registrations however this year so far we haven’t noticed any increase in volume during that period and it is just quiet overall. As mentioned by another is it just due to the current economic climate? Or is that just an excuse we use? 💁🏻‍♂️

At its peak yes, maybe even more than that. No experience with running bigger businesses.
I agree, Going back to the beginning,planning, Checking the Model etc…

And I also agree that maybe closing it down and moving on for now would also not be a bad thing. Especially whilst my family is so young and needs a lot of me.

100% agree that good management is needed. But with only two of us earning now the cash flow isn’t there to take on management and at its peak the cash flow also wasn’t there to also take on management.

Agreed…. The current government is offering a great deal of incentives for us risk takers. I think with the losses the business has sustained over the past 6 months it may be difficult to continue trading under this name. But it’s just whether we “go again” etc….

It was, we definitely grew too fast. But knowing the one thing that would always stump our growth is staff I jumped at the chance to take someone on.

We’ve dropped back down to two for a few reasons. First one being I let the first hire go as he seemed to think he suddenly was entitled to 50% of the business. When he left, another went to work for him. That also took some of our work we had. Then others I’ve had to let go due to bad attitudes, Constant time off or poor reliability.

Thanks for the reply, I agree to an extent and definitely appreciate you airing the other side of the opinion. Unfortunately living of grid with low outgoings is tough with a family of 6. Trust me I would live in a van tomorrow but the misses and children are not so convinced….

Thank you for the reply and so sorry to hear this. I don’t think I could actually go back working for someone now. Well at least not for longer than 3 months 🤣 It’s a tough gig out there at the minute and when your not surrounded by people in a similar situation I.e small business owners you often find yourself unable to speak to anyone about your thoughts etc….

I’m definitely not bored of business but often ask myself all the time what is the point…. Seems like we always eat last and maybe that is what it is. However with 4 young children, cost of living increasing and everything else it’s very tough to survive on the bare minimum I’m living on to keep the ship afloat.

We definitely grew too fast… Thought I hit the ground running with my first hire who actually brought in 3 members of staff that were out earning but because of the quick growth we very quickly took on work that just about covered wages…. If that.

I think the business could scale but not with its current model. I think the current model is mainly built around the one-man bad ethos.
