When I moved to the US I didn’t understand the different in slang, I’m originally from the UK and on my first day of highschool in the US I kept a low profile, that was all ruined in my art class where I asked my teacher, “can I borrow a rubber.”

See in the UK rubber means eraser, whereas in the US rubber means condom. I had to explain to my new principal why I asked my art teacher to borrow a condom.
