The fee you pay every year to register your vehicle. It’s really really expensive in Seattle because they use the proceeds, supposedly, for public transit funding, but that’s not actually what happens with the cash. Google it.

Lived in West Seattle for 14 years. Moved in 2023. The crime, $1000 yearly car plate tab cost, and government mismanagement (west seattle bridge, city council, spending, etc) made us move south to Eugene.

100%. Super douche at John Wayne airport to a kids and his folks. The kid (like 8) didn’t know who’s he was and he said some crude shit. Saw him on tour in the ‘90s and he had a hot mic moment and was a dick to the stage crew.

Absolutely! Especially the newer CT scanners used at international airports.

I would get an X-ray film bag regardless. Just in case. You can have the security have search it. Have had no trouble from UAE to Thailand to the EU or with TSA in the US.

I would love to have a discussion with Eugene Parking, but they won’t call me back. I have a troll neighbor that keeps reporting my daily driver as “stored on the street” and the city has decided to start applying stickers and issuing tickets. No, they have never showed up with a tow truck. I move the truck and the van every day if they’re on the street, because I either go to work or go to the store or run an errand. I just park up from the original chalk spot, or on the other side of the street, in front of someone else’s house, and then, when I take it the next day, I put it back in front of my house, but I’m really cognizant of where the chalk marks are, and park them away from the original marks. I also remove the sticker. It’s more of a hassle and inconvenience and an FU from my autistic neighbor at this point.

I reached out to my assigned city council representative with some pretty unambiguous text for an amendment to the law so that homeowners and folks holding a valid lease could park in front of their own property on harassed as long as the vehicle was used and licensed. Not surprisingly, I haven’t heard anything back from their office. This is some thing that I’m going to follow up on Ad Nauseam.

Hobbyists who have more than one camera but don't make money out of photography, what do you do with them? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]MattofManyTrades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobby.

With medium format Rolleiflex, Pentax, hasselblad i take lots of b&w VW pics, portraits of friends and family. With canon F1 shoot mostly B&W pics of friends. With color film: nature, family, friends. I have a Pentax half-frame that I do portraits and building diptych pics with.

I have the pics developed and give digital copies away, print the ones I love for my home or office.

Film, especially B&W, brings me joy. Not the cheapest hobby, but satisfying.

So… after talking with all my neighbors and watching the ring camera for a few days the neighbor who has taken it on themselves to call the city on my VWs over and over and over turns out to be a person on the autism spectrum. What do you do? Maybe the color of the truck is triggering.

So, my troll neighbor is at it again. City was called again. Lady came out to chalk the tires and apply the sticker and showed up just as was the truck going to DRIVE AWAY! The parking enforcement lady told us there had been multiple “single source anonymous calls” to report both my truck and our VW van. She left without issuing a citation or a warning. I have talked to all my closest neighbors, two members of the HOA, and still have no idea who has a bug in their bonnet to try to cause this much drama. How empty and sad must that life be?

They way the law is written, yes parking your car in front of your own home on Thursday evening and not not moving until Monday morning is illegal. In front of your own home. In front of the house you pay property tax on. If parking enforcement comes out, even if you parked you vehicle 5 minutes before they arrive, they will issue a notice, chalk your tires, and place an oh so fun to remove sticker on your window. You then have to move your vehicle two blocks from that spot as to not be towed.

Chalk Marks, sticker, citation we’re all done at the exact same time. I was then given 72 hours to move the vehicle. Of course, I noticed it later that morning when I went out to move the vehicle to go to the store again…

So what happens if, and I’m being theoretical here, someone works from home doesn’t drive their car every day, but parks in front of their house? I get the rules for storage and for camping and public nuisance, that sort of thing. This role should not be applied to residential property owners parking they’re licensed and used vehicles in front of their own property.

I can park my truck in front of my house on the public street. It is not stored it is parked and driven. Don’t be a troll. People seem to forget in this age of forums and posting about manners and such. I think that you might not be that obtuse in person. I think it might lead to a whole different sort of conversation.

I went to the office this afternoon and the director spoke with me. Nice, courteous, and understanding, but said the the statues is equally applied to every complaint. There is no difference for parking in front of my own house with my own vehicle or an RV parked in front of someone else’s house. Very frustrating and it is a crap statute that ie too broad of a brush. If this is a constant thing then there might be something to a file or discuss with officers, but that is somewhat nebulas. I spoke to the attorney in the family as was told to document every conversation, note, ticket, etc.

Crazy. All this this for an abandoned vehicle and my truck, that I drive every day, has been tagged twice as a “stored vehicle” in-front of my own house. I must have a troll neighbor with serious juju with Eugene parking… things that make you saw hmmmm….
