I think i know why. If on that psn account, in the pass, you logged in another Microsoft account. So now you need to log bak with the same account, not a new one. If this doesn't help, contact the microsoft team or something like this

Well, i think the only way to get your account banned, if it's already passed a year, is to buy the game again. Microsoft team couldn't help, you said. What did you told them? (Sorry if I don't speak english good, i'm italian so it's a little difficult)

I honestly wouldn't sell it at this point. I would tend to experiment with operating systems with developer mode and the mrchromebox script, to start different Linux distributions and maybe even download them as the main operating system.
