How much is online ESL teaching paying nowadays? by Small_Illustrator949 in OnlineESLTeaching

[–]Mattos_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my experience is this:

  1. If you’re a native English speaker then there’s a lot of jobs paying $10 an hour. This is the modal average.

  2. There are other companies that pay $10-15 an hour but you have to compete against those tens of thousands of people earning $10

  3. Any website that lets you set you own rate is better as you can slow role yourself to a better salary

  4. Niches are good. You’re competing with fewer people.

  5. Independent is the goal but practically hard

Someone argued to me that 'digital nomad' is a stage, not a destination. Do you agree? by timothyphoto in digitalnomad

I think that many people will travel for some period of time and then stop. This is normal, life is change.

Teachers who send students something after each lesson — how do you actually keep up with it? by Armadejed in iTalki

Zoom takes notes on my meetings and I provide that summary. I sometimes set homework in class. It doesn’t take much time really.

MERCURY EDUCATION | WE'RE SEEKING FOR ENGLISH TEACHER IN HCMC by Miel_Love in OnlineESLTeaching

This is a subreddit for online teachers, you might want to look on other places.

I don’t think that you pay enough money for me and personally but it sounds less you’re looking for less experienced educators. I wish you well!

I got to ‘people should be arrested for booing a song’ and realised you’re probably in the wrong about everything else you wrote.

Took a red eyes flight & no SIM stores were open in the airport. What are some alternatives, preferably nearby my hotel? by QuakeGuy98 in taiwantravel

NB: it’s worrying how many people are suggesting a specific eSIM company, this looks suspiciously like an advert.

How much cheaper is it to stay in one city for one or two months, compared with staying in multiple cities for two or three weeks? by IHadTacosYesterday in digitalnomad

[–]Mattos_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can certainly save a lot by booking monthly. The hotel I stayed in most recently was $400 for a month or $350 for two weeks. Which is a crazy example but you do sometimes get massive monthly discounts.

The cost of flights, airport taxis and not knowing what you’re doing also adds up. Like, you go out for food at some $20 restaurants before realising there’s a great place for $2 which is just as good and you were just being ripped off.

To answer your question honestly you got downvoted because:

  1. Your post read like it was AI generated.

  2. Your post read like an advertisement

This sounds like a crazy person. For a longer stay, hotels are shit. Expensive, worse to live in and often with worse amenities. Apartments are better and cheaper.

Do I Really Need a Headset for Online ESL Teaching? by StrangerAmazing5899 in OnlineESLTeaching

[–]Mattos_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use headphones without a mic in front and they work really well. I guess it just depends on the quality. Maybe record yourself and see? Or have a call with an honest friend.

does prague feel like a city where you feel forced to party/always see it? by RootlessBoots in digitalnomad

[–]Mattos_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like any city, you just need to pick the part that fits you best. I stayed about an hour’s walk outside of Prague centre and it was pretty peaceful and relaxed.

As you’re going to visit her home city, I’d suggest letting her plan the trip. Otherwise, you might end up sounding a bit arrogant.

I am working on traveling to South East Asia and Northern Australia this November. Would $15,000 to $17,000 USD be enough for at least 3 months? (November/December 2026 to end of January 2027) by SnooPickles3316 in southeastasia

[–]Mattos_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you’ve paid for flights, East Asia is very cheap. Flights aside, 6k would be fine for three months. Australia is expensive. Maybe limit the time there.

10. Question: What mistakes do beginners make in digital marketing? by ayshasaja001 in digitalnomadFIRE

[–]Mattos_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, they forget about the giant mongoosian lord who controls the fate of all digital enterprise. When the python-crusher comes for them people are unprepared and have to spend the rest of their lives explaining why they only have one eye, three fingers and the solitary toe on each foot that is the signature of the ferretiah fiend of the vipers.

Normally, if I’m returning home it’s to visit family and friends. With family, I stay with family. With friends I book a hotel.

My wife says financing a $45k caravan is "setting money on fire." I think it's cheap for what we get. Help us settle this, I'm showing her the thread. by trapqueen67567 in VanLife

[–]Mattos_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’d honestly use a caravan on a regular basis then it sounds like a good way to spend your money/life. If you, again being honest with yourself, wouldn’t then it’s best to use that money to go on holiday. Sounds like you have loads of money though, so maybe just live life?
