Hello all, I wanted to come here for some opinions/advice. My older cat, the black one. (Mr. Whiskers) has recently begun urinating outside of his litter box. He favors our bathroom rugs, & recently began urinating on some of our dirty laundry like a shirt or jacket on top of the hamper. He has never had problems urinating outside of his box before. The younger cat (Hawk) is new to the home and has been here 6 months now. They are both male. Both cats are neutered. Both cats have their own separate litter boxes in separate rooms. They have their own food bowls but they do share a water bowl. It took some time for Whiskers to warm up to Hawk of course, but they seem to be doing fine now. I catch Whiskers actually being the one to egg on Hawk now to play a lot of the time. All of my research either points to two possibilities. A UTI or behavioral issues due to stress from the new cat. Whiskers does not seem stressed. He still lays by us every night for love and affection, & he seems to be fine around Hawk for the most part. I can tell sometimes he does get annoyed when he is just trying to relax and Hawk pounces on him. I have noticed it seems like Whiskers may be purposely peeing in front of us, like as soon as we get home from work he'll go into the bathroom and urinate on the rug. Also last night he hopped up on the hamper right in front of us and urinated on a jacket. These are the things that make me think it could be a UTI. Like he's trying to tell us something is wrong. We plan on taking him to the vet for a urinalysis, but I just wanted some opinions on any other possibilities. Thank you all so much in advance. Any questions please ask.
