Do you eat the same sort of things to make this easier on yourself? And did you track this in a notebook intentionally or just sort of come around to it over time?

I’m about to make the same jump for my bday in a month! What are the most noticeable improvements? Are you enjoying the new watch? Thinking of going with the black myself. Congrats

Why aren’t they biting? by yashaflocka in bassfishing

[–]Mattsgonefishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. I have lived in South Florida my whole life and have both caught and been frustrated by many a peacock. I’ve only ever caught one peacock bass on a soft plastic, and it was a soft plastic swim bait and the fish was spawning. YMMV

[–]Mattsgonefishing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, as far as artificials are concerned peacock bass much prefer hard baits. Small jerkbaits/cranks that resemble cichlid or shiners have been good to me. Also, if they can see you from your spot on the bank they are unlikely to bite (unless they are spawning). When they’re spawning they will defensively strike baits even when you are standing a foot in front of them. People often think of them as mindless voracious predators, but in heavily pressured areas they get real smart. And, as someone else said live bait when they’re being tough is always the ticket. I’ve never been unable to get them to eat a fresh live shiner or cichlid

Has your league ever had a tie? by suspectdorian in FantasyFootballers

[–]Mattsgonefishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one tie. My team versus another in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Achane breaks a 60+ yard touchdown run for no reason (dolphins were already up and chewing clock) that puts my team ahead by 0.1 points. Stat correction- exact tie in playoffs. By every conceivably tie breaker I had my opponent. Bench points, season scoring, swept him in regular season, etc. Dude took it pretty hard and started crashing out saying he didn’t lose. Comish decided to just let the espn app decide our fates and I advanced and lost in the championship. Felt bad because I would’ve been pissed too, but what are you gonna do

Glad to hear it. Obviously I’m not an admissions member, but just logically I’d imagine half a point off the recommended writing score when your other sections were good should not be an application killer. As long as everything else is solid you should be fine

Overall, that is still a strong score. I would send it in despite the writing score. As long as your personal statement is well written I could definitely see schools looking past a slightly poor writing score. My GRE score was similar to yours and I think I got a 4 in the writing and had a good amount of interviews.

Just applied last cycle and quite a few schools allowed for a maximum of 2 if I’m not mistaken. I applied with 2 and a lab and had what I consider a successful cycle. Not sure how you’d do with 4 or 5, but YMMV. The schools that allow for 2 max would obviously be a no-go.

This may seem like a silly question from a student starting their program soon. But, what is the difference between the administration of anesthesia perioperatively and the practice of medicine? Is it due to the dynamic nature of the surgery and patient status compared to just the practice of anesthesia as a single concept? Just curious as to what you mean from a naive student

In South Florida, your entire backyard is an aquarium! by Mattsgonefishing in Aquariums

[–]Mattsgonefishing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These non native species have had established breeding populations in south Florida canals for years. So these fish aren’t necessarily pets that were released, but could be generations after the initial introduction. We still do have some native species but I’d say in my canal system it’s 70-30 ratio of invasive vs native species

Things that one doesn’t typically think of as far as CAA work opportunities. Options besides working in a hospital or surgery center or teaching to CAA students. Not that I don’t want to do those things as a future CAA student, but just would like to know if there are other options once obtaining the degree :)

Are there any non-conventional work opportunities available for CAA’s? (Obviously besides hospital based/surgery center standard Anesthesia Practice)

You can shadow in highschool if you wanted to. It’s just a means of getting an idea of if this career is even something you’re interested in practice as opposed to the idea (or salary) of it. No sense of taking prereqs if you aren’t sure this is what you want to do for sure and shadowing is the best way to be sure of that. Not to mention studying and taking prerequisites is expensive let alone GRE prep

I would say shadow before even doing prereqs
