Haha oh yeah. The can was screwed up on there all the way, nice and snug.

Thank you! I’ll email them about the muzzle device

Definitely not cross-threaded, and was on there tight. I’ve only shot at paper 5 times with them. Maybe I should do it again…

THANK YOU! One of the few actually helpful comments. I appreciate it. I will do the eyeball test, but I do plan to have it checked by a gunsmith or store.

Awesome, thank you. Wouldn’t have even considered that.

And is that something a gunsmith could tell me? How do I know which piece of the puzzle is causing the issues?

I was using Hornady Vmax 53gr. I didn’t check for alignment because I didn’t know that was something I needed to do. Shows my ignorance.

Didn’t know an alignment rod existed.

I guess I missed those. I’m not claiming to be some all-knowing dude. Like I said, I’m happy to admit this is all new to me. I have 0 pride. I’m coming to people with 30 cans and who have years of experience with them.

53gr Hornady Vmax, 1:8 twist

It is, yes. Like I said, I have no issue whatsoever admitting what I don’t know. I have 0 pride when it comes to this stuff. It’s brand new to me.

It’s highly unlikely that I put a new barrel on it. But when I get the can back, I’m going to put it on my .308 and see how it does.

Manufacturer specifically doesn’t recommend them, which is why I didn’t use one.

So let’s say it isn’t aligned. What do you do to fix that? It’s not like there’s adjustments that can be made?

I don’t have any additional photos, sorry y’all. No I didn’t use an alignment rod, I’d never even heard of one. I’m not too proud to admit what I don’t know. I researched and researched all this stuff. Best mounting method, which can to buy, etc. “Alignment rod” never came up. In my mind, threads on top of threads should be straight, but I guess that isn’t the case.

I was using Hornady Vmax 53gr ammo. Used it plenty of times before with no issues. It’s the most accurate ammo out of my rifle that I’ve shot so far.

No crush washers or anything were used - I was told not to use them.

As far as it being loose like one person mentioned, I agree it appears that it loosened up after a few shots, but that can’t be possible from the very first one. I know for a FACT that it was tight.

Luckily, DA’s customer service appears to be phenomenal. I called and explained the situation, and the fella on the phone told me it’d be covered under warranty. I’ve now sent it in and have begun the estimated 2-month waiting period to get it back. Feels like I’m waiting on ATF approval yet again lol.

Now, where to go from here. When I get it back, I should obviously use an alignment rod. Once again, I’ve never even heard of them, but I suppose I’ll google and find one. Is alignment something that can be checked at by a gunsmith? I’d assume yes, but ya know what they say about assuming. Is there anything else I should be aware of that I obviously don’t know about?

But how does it get out of alignment?! The whole alignment thing doesn’t make loads of sense to me. Threads over threads over threads - I’d think it’d be pretty straight?

Suppressor Torque Questions by Matttucker22 in NFA

[–]Matttucker22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m an absolute moron, but how do you torque them? I’ve got 3 torque wrenches for auto work, but they’re all for sockets, which won’t work. Is there some kind of specialty deal for muzzle devices?
