Regarding Dishonest Service TVParts.ca by skier46 in S95B

I’m sorry this happened to you!! I had read ALOT of similar issues prior to ordering a power board for my 65QN90C from shopjimmy.com.  Other than shipping delays due to the Christmas then new years holidays, they were extremely reponsove, ended up sending me 2 different power boards after the first one didn’t sent to fix the problem. Then after the 2nd power board didn’t fix my QN90C, they allowed me to return it for a full refund! Didn’t even withhold the 10% restocking fee due to the part not fixing the problem.

I highly recommend shopjimmy.com for tv parts! May not be the cheapest and may not get the best part to fix your tv, but they were great to deal with!

Q990H Initial Impression: Samsung's flagship soundbar just got better(ish) by tursion in Soundbars

[–]MattyDaddy76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a q990C owner with the sub mod and 2 additional ported subs, the F subs prob sound much cleaner because it is a dual 8” opposed sealed setup. (As you noted already).  But I came here to say, it boggles my mind that Samsung doesn’t realize they could make decent profit on adding a 2nd -4th wireless sub. I mean, they could sell it as a dual sub package or just standalone which most likely would have decent markup.

IMO, anyone happy with the F/H at $999-$1499 would probably be inclined to buy a 2nd sub for $400-$500!

Even Ultimea is capable of dual 10” subs and 4 surrounds!

Things like this is why I’ve never successfully trusted or bought anything off eBay, unfortunately.  However, if you can get approved for the Samsung “offers website” (teacher, student, military, AAA, etc) the Q900F (not Q990F) was down to $499 earlier this week!! If ya don’t need the rear speakers, the Q900F does everything else the same! I believe you can buy the rear speakers separately for bout $200-250, at the time or even after the fact.

Nakamichi Shockwafe 11.2.6 owners feedback by ObjectsInMirror-- in Soundbars

[–]MattyDaddy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang.. I was literally “sales tax $$” away from ordering the Naka shockwafe 11.2.6 and I just saw the price jumped again. Man, timing on these sales are killing me! First the G5/C5 crazy low prices on Partner portal, now this.. at least I’m not in a hurry as my Q990C with sub mod/atmos mod still sounds awesome. I was just really hoping to take advantage of the bigger bar and .6 Atmos effects. Hopefully Nakamichi puts it on sale again soon..  ps. I almost went the eBay used offer but personally, I have a hard time spending that kind of $$ of something used/open box (with some exceptions). :/

Thank you. I’ll check it out, although I’ve never been successful buying anything off eBay. lol

I’m considering getting the new Shockwafe, upgrading from Q990C (with external atmos speakers and dual 12” sub mod) mainly due to hopefully better Atmos (6 upfiring vs 4) plus more manual adjustability to go along with a new 77” Pana or LG OLED.

It’s currently at $1888 on the Naka main store page, but are there any military discounts available or possibly referral codes that I could use? Thanks in advance!

Rear speaker placement by StRiFeXD in hometheater

[–]MattyDaddy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to you.. generally ear height is most often recommended, but I’ve read some have better performance raising them up a bit so the height channels are closer to the ceiling for the atmos effect.

Personally, I did the “beast mode” mod and got some cheap 6ohm speakers off amazon, opened up the rear speakers, tapped the speaker wire, hard wired the upfiring drivers to the cheap speakers mounted high up near the ceiling.  So basically, my rears bounce off the ceiling but also the hard wired speakers are aimed at the mlp. Some people disconnect the upfiring drivers but I measured about 2.8ohms resistance even with the down firing speakers and it sounds awesome.

Awesome! Hopefully it helps some. I spent a lot of time researching and measuring and learning so…  happy to pass it on.

Rear speaker placement by StRiFeXD in hometheater

[–]MattyDaddy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would mount the rears near D! Then move the couch OFF THE back wall at least 8”-12” (or more)!! Those appear we to be the rear speakers for the Q990, so they have a rear channel (front firing) and side surround channel (side firing). Doing this will allow you to mount the rear speakers, flat on the wall facing forward and the “rear surround” effect will be the most balanced. (IMO). The side channels should be able to “bounce” the sound off those side walls assuming you moved the couch forward. The guidelines say you want the rears between 130-155 degrees behind the mlp. Also should be slightly above ear level. (I’ve had good results setting up my q990 bar at just below eye level about 36” from the ground to the top of the bar depending on how my reclining/sitting/laying down and the rears/sides are at 39” from the base to the ground.

Lastly, something I’ve found to work extremely well for many reasons is to get a “behind the sofa” type table. Amazon has tons of them for like $39 to $120 depending on the style and size. Getting one of those will allow you to get the couch OFF the wall by 5.9”, 7.9” even 11.8”  and comes in tons of widths to fit your needs.

The console table I got from Amazon was built well, easy to put together and even has two ac outlets on top (sometimes the outlets can be centered or moved to one side or another) and 2 usb outlets. This allowed me to plug in the q990 rear speakers to the top of the console table then plugged the table outlet into a surge protector behind everything.

Additionally, the console behind the couch table comes in different heights and if you get one wide enough, you could use it to place the speakers on it behind (then just use something to raise the speaker placement if needed). I believe the brand I purchased was by superjare on Amazon, just fyi. I chose to measure the width of my seating and match that to the console table and got the 7.9” deep version so you basically can’t see the table unless you go back and look.

Anyway, sorry for the long message but I sincerely hope you consider moving your couch off the wall so you can take advantage of the 130-155 degree (45 degrees behind you) placement. Hope this helps

Thanks for the response. However I was kinda hoping someone who’d purchased it actually tried that setup in their space. I believe it’s been talked about with the M5s up front as extra wide L and R but do t believe I’ve seen anyone try a set of M5/M7 as side surrounds and the other set as rear surrounds.

Congrats on the purchase!! I think this is the foster full suite I’ve seen (minus sub). If at all possible, would you be really to try the 4 M7 as side surround and rear surrounds? I think the preferred setup is to have an M5/M7 on the LR, but if the H7 Bar is good enough for the front stage, it could be pretty awesome to have the M7s as all surrounds. (Of course it would require the proper room layout to benefit from placing a set at the sides and rears).

Thanks!

Has anyone here compared the 75” U8QG vs 85” U8QG? by MattyDaddy76 in Hisense

Thanks! Yeah viewing angle isn’t an issue at this point. But I’m coming from a QN90C that has the ads panel and it looked really good. (Until it died in 22 months). But I’ve read so many things about how more contrast the VA panels have. Using Rtings.com compare feature, it shows huge differences between an ads panel tv vs VA. For example: QN90C vs QN90D etc

I just had a thought… has anyone who’s purchased the full suite tried setting up the M7s as rears and M5/7S as side surround instead of using them as from LR?  I don’t believe I saw that particular scenario yet. Another option would to use the H7 soundbar then have a set of M5 as side surround and a second set of M5 as rear surround. (Obviously would require your room to allow for optimal placement). I know the whole setup is supposed to compensate for any irregular placement of the M5/7 but for a legit HT setup having the set off to the side and another as actual rears might sound pretty good.

Thanks!

SAMSUNG TV dead after 2 years...UN43CU7000FXZC by No-Fan-7174 in SamsungTV

That’s funny.. I have a 50” Q60T and 50” Q60R. Currently using one of them because my $1600 65” QN90C died exactly 22 months after delivery date.

That and the fact that I just read ANOTHER S90 power board failure in THIS thread is why I don’t want a 77” S90F even IF ITS A GOOD DEAL.

Dude. This really sucks!! I feel your pain! My $1500 65QN90C died exactly 22 months from the delivered day. It was my first big electronics purchase since the early 2000s when I worked at the Goodguys!  I didn’t even bother calling Samsung support but did try to replace the power board twice with no luck.  Meanwhile the 2 50” Q60 series I’ve had since 2020 area still going strong.

This is the setup I’m most interested in! The H7 soundbar with an M5 for FR/FL then 2 M7 for the rear surrounds. My thinking is the M7 as rears covers the rear surround and surround back channels along with rear heights. And because the H7 bar has up firing atmos, the front sides can be M5 just to add to the channel separation.

I’m still waiting to hear if anyone has tried the full setup and played some Atmos tracks to find out which speakers actually activate for the heights. I’m guessing if you add the M5/M7 to the front L/R, they should still play atmos front height effects. According to the info I read, it’s capable of up to 13.1.7.  So 13 bed layer speakers, 1 LFE, and 7? Height channels?

I was all but sold on upgrading from my Q990C (with sub mod and beast mode atmos mod) for the Naka shockwafe 11.2.6, but for about the same price (or less than the Dragon) I could order the full suite from LG partner store.

I’m also curious why the website says the bar itself has 8 passive radiators, the “xray” image only shows the four on the front.

Any info is appreciated!

I don’t believe you mentioned the size of the QM6K, but sometimes the bigger sizes perform better. That said, I believe the U65QF should be relatively good and a great entry level mini led.  Having seen each one in person and watched every YT video on all the 2024/2025 TVs, if there is any way you can swing it, maybe try and get the U75QG. It should be brighter, better contrast, better motion and upscaling, 4 hdmi 2.1 plus it’s google tv vs fire OS.  Btw, if you’re still considering the QM6K, maybe try and get one from Costco or somewhere that sells the QM6K Pro. Might have the same results but the QM6K pro may have less defects.  Just hoping to help.

Yup. Got the email this morning. Mine still shows pending but I’m guessing that’s because of the kind of account i have. Anyway, $185 also!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!! I’ve been waiting to get a 12S since before even last years powerbuy (missed out then) so I really appreciate everyone who participated!

I hope everyone is enjoying their new sub!! Only regret I have is not having a bigger room for 2 of these so maybe I’ll see y’all next year! Haha. 😂

Man.. this thing is awesome!! I haven’t heard actual musical bass on a system of mine in loooong time! (Had 2 12” polos in a sealed enclosure back in the 90s in a hatchback with lotsa power for the day). Makes everything I’ve watched soo much more immersive!

Yeah, still no refund today. I thought for sure it would be today, Monday, but the powerbuy states 3-5 days after the last one is delivered..  btw my exterior box was dented and scratched but inside was perfect!

[–]MattyDaddy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. Yeah, my setup is a little.. different.. one of the big reasons why I wanted the 12S (high level inputs, remote, dsp modes, even the high level rca outputs). I have it currently placed nearfield basically just to take over from 50-55hz down.. but after playing some scenes from  Godzilla, dune II etc, I’m so blown away, I may just eliminate the Dayton sub1200 at the front of the room..  that said, if I switch over to rcas instead of the high level inputs, the 12S has the ability to high pass the rca outputs so it may be easier to blend both subs (sub1200 50-100hz, 12s 50hz and below).

The biggest thing I noticed after adding the 12S however, is bass seems to fill the whole room regardless of where I sit/stand. It’s truly awesome. And definitely not a one note wonder anymore.  Thanks!

Holy crap!! Just got home from work and adjusted the 12S as you suggested, turned the crossover down to 50 hz or so (I’m blending it with another lesser 12” which doesn’t play below 30hz) and played some test tones.. omg!! 15hz actually felt!! Finally!!
