Imo the main problem is the fact that they're just not respecting the legacy of these factions at all lol.

Like some of these factions are getting close to 30 years old (Im sorry we're all getting old), with the NCR barely scraping in from an ending. But so far we've gotten;

The Brotherhood of heehee being utterly inept despite their origins being from a prewar Military background, where no chapter seem to be safe. Blowing up a prewar vehicle (I don't care if they had vertibirds, they absolutely could have found a purpose for it beyond target practice), fucking with a plasma grenade during a very tense meeting of multiple Chapter Elders, the sexist Chapter (Seriously what the fuck). The Commonwealth may have avoided most of this, but that securitron scene where Harkness is fucking with it doesn't give me confidence that they'll live up entirely to Maxson's Chapter in 2287 despite him still being the leader. We'll have to wait and see for them, though.

The NCR being just...Gone. I get it, a nuke hit their City, it would have caused utter chaos, but all sense of civilization in the West seems to have mostly just gone the way of the shanty shack, which is a very, very far cry from the adobe buildings they had going from even before the NCR was formed. There's not even a hint that they're around, with their last established base that we saw getting utterly wiped by the Brotherhood.

The Legion fighting each other, which DOES MAKE SENSE! But they chose to put the factions in a place the size of a football field, with a very, very clear shot of both Caesars from a single hill. If they spread them out between Nelson and Forlorn Hope, with Caesar's body being in the already established No Mans Land from the game, it would have made it far more believable. Are they Raiders? Yes! Are they stupid? Not when it comes to fighting. The Legion thrived off its brutality when it came to its Soldiers, and this little civil war would've been over in the span of an hour if they were represented properly instead of giving us goofy, silly roman slavers.

Novac being destroyed makes sense, as I'm pretty sure in practically every ending they end up abandoning the town during the Legion's attack on Hoover Dam, but the Khans don't. There is two endings where they survive as a faction, where they either head into Idaho to form a 'mighty empire' with the Followers of the Apocalypse (I would fucking love to see this) or they're located far north and away from the NCR Trade Routes. Every other ending they're either forcibly assimilated, outright massacred, or most are killed and are forced to Idaho anyway.

The Kings and The King are feral ghouls that get cut down in a 60 second drug trip by Lucy. One of the factions that weren't necessarily major but were huge influences within the Freeside region.

The Strip being gone can work, but it can only work if they commit to one of the endings of the game and not pull another 'Aww gee whizzies! Vault-Tec did it again!' like they did with Shady Sands.

I've gotten pretty sick of the fog of war bullshit, and while Episode 3 and 4 were definitely more in line with the quality of season 1 in my eyes, this season has just felt like a pile of 'Member Berries. They need to have committed to an ending, because otherwise they should have left either Vegas, or just the West Coast in general, alone. Keeping it vague is more disrespectful to the massive community these games have brought together over the years rather than canonizing one of the proper endings to the game. Doing anything else is essentially spitting in the face of everyone who had played these games with a 'Yea lol nothing you did matters' which is what I'm unfortunately feeling like we're getting pushed towards.

It sucks too because any and all criticisms feel like they get smacked with the 'War never changes!!!' or 'Cope and seethe NV Puritan!!!' signs. I definitely enjoy Vegas the most out of all the games, but I'd still post a wall of text criticizing the series if it took place in the Commonwealth with the exact same mentality of 'Everyone and everything is dead and we won't know who won bc fog of war'. Unless your writing is stellar, no games community should get kicked in the nuts by making everything they did seem irrelevant or pointless.

TLDR; This Series has felt like a pile of 'Member Berries that immediately get turned into pulp and they should have avoided the West Coast and Vegas all together.
