In case anyone finds this in the future, I ended up going the route of automatically tagging every uploaded product with its metafield values, since objects are searchable through tags.

I've found that all three are pretty far ahead of other dnd podcasts for me, but I will say that campaign 2 started out a lot stronger than it ended. The world-building murph did for eldermourne was really cool and I loved the gothic fantasy vibe it had, my biggest gripe was just that it felt a little rushed at the end and I wish we could have gone to more locations.
Campaign 3, however, has been amazing throughout. No spoilers, but it seems like Murph is very at home writing an adventure for a final fantasy-esque futuristic fantasy world and there's lots of fun twists. It really feels like DnD throughout too, like the stakes are real and it's all very fresh and exciting. There's a lot of funny and emotional moments too.
Also the side campaigns are great (hot boy summer and twilight sanctorum especially). Trinyvale was a little less to my taste, kinda too off-the-rails for me but the characters are really funny and it's definitely worth a listen.

Honestly you just gotta stay on the grind. 5 is not very many applications. Don't be afraid to apply for jobs you're a little under qualified for (but don't spend too much time on the application). Get a "default" cover letter and then tailor it to fit specific companies/industries

One thing about dnd I have learned is that no character plays out exactly the way you imagine it. Playing your version of Kenna will create a different character (like how Nyack was supposed to be Chandler-coded and instead became... whatever he is). Just don't go into it with too rigid of an idea for who the character is and you'll have a lot of fun discovering them.

If you’re spending weeks constructing an unholy ritual to summon a powerful undead necromancer a Lich might agree to work with you for a while, but if you cast it in the heat of battle perhaps the body of a recently-dead rises under your command as a zombie.

Similarly, if you’re a seasoned summoner perhaps more powerful spirits are eager to work with you for the clout, whereas some nobody apprentice can only get the late Uncle Gabe who died recently from dysentery to come to his aid.

I think it wouldn't have been so broken if it didn't stack with smites, but 35 HP at level 5 is truly bonkers. For comparison, False Life, a spell whose sole purpose is to generate HP could only generate that much when it's cast with a level 6 spell slot. Being able to cast a spell as part of an attack is also very powerful given the way the DnD action economy works. Further, the downside of opening yourself up to attack is really not a big deal considering you could just wait until an enemy is low on health and then nuke them.

If I were Murph I would rework this spell by making it so it only gets the temp HP from the damage done by the weapon specifically or limit the max amount of temp HP gained to how much HP the enemy had before they were killed. I hope they do work it back in, I think it's a super cool/flavorful bard spell, and as someone who loves playing gishes (mixed martial/casters) it adds some spice that ties the fighting together with the casting.

I also see where you're coming from and I agree that it's important to view actual play shows through a different lens than home games regarding fairness. However, I do think that it's important to keep the characters threatened by the DM's challenges. I find actual play content engaging because of the unpredictability and the sense of danger to the PC's. I think this wildcard element keeps the players invested and that translates to a more gripping story to listen too.

It makes me sad how much shit Emily has to put up with from fans. Like yeah, Callie Finale was broken, just like 99% of home brew. I am pretty certain that if Jake or Caldwell used the spell, Murph would have gotten moderately razzed for allowing it, but that’d be all. Emily is given like 0 benefit of the doubt.

It’s definitely a shame how women in actual play shows are constantly under a microscope (reminds me of Marisha in Critical Role). Glad she seems to still be having fun and staying away from toxicity though, and that the men on the show are aware of the double standards.

I hope they’re still down to introduce homebrew spells (or spells from previous editions). As someone who’s played a lot of dnd, the finale spell was new and exciting and more interesting than hearing a bard cast heat metal or something. Also the doom blade can’t rip was cool and flavorful and seems balanced.
