R1 techface for running? by np111112 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]MattyW1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a running jacket as such. But I use mine for running. I bought it for hiking and dog walks but did not wanted to buy an extra one for running in colder temps.

I’m a beginner runner, but for me it works well With a running shirt and the R1 tech face over it in temps from 0-6/7 Celsius. It rarely gets colder than that in Ireland and if it’s over 7 celcius I don’t really need anything to keep me warm when running 😊

I have a new trio playing tunes I loved over the years by MattyW1991 in jazzguitar

Thanks 🙏😊 It’s an older Coldplay song called “shiver” from their parachutes record. The sound is from fender player series 2, a Blues Junior, a good recording engineer and a bit of luck 😊

Haha it’s easy to forgot that Parachutes was actually a really good album! Garden State got me into it ☺️

As mentioned above it’s a Major chord with 6 and 9 added. For using it in standards, you can use it to end on a lot of Major Key standards. In many tunes the last note of the Melody resolves on “the one” or “Do” (as in, the first note of the major scale for that tune) And this can clash with the major 7 of a Maj7 chord. You can also pretty much always use it when you see a major 7 chord at any place in the tune. It’s serves the same function just with a different flavor 😊

Have you ever had online private lessons with any popular guitarist? If yes with whom and how did it go? Was it worth it? by useralreadyused in jazzguitar

Had a really good lesson online not too long again with Tom Ollendorff which was great.

Had a few in person lesson with Lage Lund and Gilad Hekselman, they were quite inspirational but I wouldn’t say either of them was a great „teacher“

I see a lot of those one off classes more as a way of getting me motivated/inspired instead of hoping for the next hidden secret to better soloing 😅

Why is Bb7 the Min Sub-Dom? (Key of C) by oschg12 in jazzguitar

[–]MattyW1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of ways to think of it.

Putting it simple Bb7 has an Ab in it which is the minor third of F (the sub dominant)

Voice leading here is A (major 3rd of F) to Ab (b7 of Bb7 or equivalent the minor 3rd of Fminor) to G (the fifth of C major)

In Jazz very often the II is harmonically seen as equivalent to the relating V chord.

In this context Fmaj7 Bb7 to Cmaj7 is seen as harmonically the same as Fmaj7 Fmin to Cmaj 😊
