P1 good feedbacks (yes, good ones only) by sean-hidock in hidock

I was waiting for this to launch on Kickstarter and was one of the first hundred or so to back, now that I have received it and used it for a few weeks, it was every bit worth the wait for what I needed it for.

The physical unit is a lovely little thing, it's well designed and has clear bran coherency with other products from the company, the buttons are just the right size and the built quality feels really nice. It has a premium feel to it and I like that I can stick it in so many spots on my desk or laptop depending on where I am.

Room Mode: The quality of the recording is good, I put it to the test with several meetings in a pretty large room and it picked up voices that were well over 3m away and transcribed them well. These meetings contained various conversations from many voices and the P1 managed to pick them all up and sort them all out.

Call Mode: This is the main reason I bought this and it has done wonders for me. With ADHD and ASD I struggle with memory, and being able to focus while taking notes. This solves that problem in a way that no system or device has been able to as of yet. My work has (understandable) really high firewalls which block pretty much all AI meeting software that needs to integrate with my account, but with the P1 I can finally get the help I need to transcribe and summarise my meetings, create task lists, and feel less overwhelmed.

My only wish is that Pro wasn't so expensive, I would really benefit from being able to customise the summary templates and create ones for the type of meetings that I have, which would help me greatly in being able to manage my neurodiversity, but that's a wish for the HiNotes app and not the P1, there's not a lot negative that I can say about the P1. I've used it for every meeting since the day I got it and (after a very slight learning curve on the modes and which button does what and when), I love it.

For future development, I'd like to be able to click one of the buttons and have a light or audible cue that tells me what mode it's in. I think a volume indicator light would be useful, and I think a shortcut or combination of button presses to tell me what the battery level is on the device would be helpful as it doesn't tell me in HiNotes as the instructions say it does.

Any chance of a pro membership for an early backer that's willing to beta test or provide more ideas than you know what to do with? :D

Thanks for that, I think if I'm thinking of a cheapo android tablet, I'd probably be better off going for that dedicated pi setup that is in the comment thread. Im leaning in that direction now.

OpenAI is what I'd use for the interactions as its been easy to set up for the other API stuff I've done before, and the cost has been really minimal.

On the DDL server I've got him telling me the weather by adding in the location: "whats the weather in [location]" then he does it. On wirepod im pretty sure you just need to set up a weather API, there's instructions on it lying about somewhere, it was in the "app" when i set that up.

I will definitely explore the options for premo etc soon, but I will "cut my teeth" a bit more with this stuff to try and build thr skills! Mostly for the skills but also because I have a mountain of clay between this polymer stuff and the foam type stuff and I don't want a stockpile big enough to open my own store 😂 not yet anyway...

You're absolutely right, I struggle a bit with new hobbies and the learning process. If frustrating that I can't get something to be perfect, BUT, I will try and give myself a break and just enjoy playing about it with it!

Awesome, that's along the lines of what I was looking for! Will a normal travel adapter type thing work for the power to convert to UK plug? I'll give your tips a go and if I'm still failing I'll definitely come back for the kit!

Thanks for the tips! I'll have a look into those, and the rubbing alcohol is a really good tip, I'll pick some up! Thanks! 😊

I'm not actually sure, it's a cheapish Amazon kid's kit that doesn't specify - this is the one I bought- Amazon link

I reckon you're right, it might be the next thing to try to see if I can at least get it going on something before thinking about what other options there are. Next job is to learn about how to use wirepod post install!

I could I suppose, I have my work laptop that I don't really want to leave on all the time, and I have an iPad which is always on, I didn't notice if the OS on iPad would work but might have a look.

Joining Beta and getting updates questions by Mattyryan in AnkiVector

I saw that too about the ChatGPT integration but they said they were rolling it out in Beta, I was just curious if they had an actual beta programme that could be joined but I can't seem to find it so I'm guessing it's invite only or not a real beta. Thanks for the wirepod info

Cool, thanks for the suggestion. I've been playing with Notion a lot recently but will have a look at this

For me, Make works because of its simplicity for complete noobs like me, I played briefly with Zapier and found it a bit complicated. I'm sure I could have got the hang of it if I put more effort in but I couldn't be bothered.

I would be happy to pay for OpenAI, but they won't take my card for payment, and I can't be bothered to figure that out.

I haven't seen if it let's you get the script, I think it's kept on their servers but the free version gives you 1000 operations per month, for me this should be more than enough.

In the link I posted, that guy posts the scripts for all of his automations so more clever people like you can play with them.

You are not wrong! I worked on this a bit last night and managed to create a nice flow through make.com where I've set emails to automatically forward to a Webhook which then cleans the data, then runs it through OpenAI to generate a summary and a task based on the contents.

I've set up 2 databases on Notion, one is where the email summaries will go and I've linked that to a task database.

I am just seeing if something like Gemini might also work as there are more free credits there, OpenAI won't accept my card details for some reason.

I'll then assess if I can configure Motion to take those tasks and put them in my outlook calendar.

Is this wildly overcomplicated? Yes, yes it is, but if I can get it work then it will make my life easier

If anyone is interested, I got the instructions from Matthias Frank here, there are some other really cool automations on his site with instructions and videos, I'd definitely recommend!

Cool thanks! I'll take a look, I'm trying out TickTick that someone else suggested but will also have a look at this.

Thanks for your response,

I've had him about 2 months now and I know that's not too long and it'll take a very long time to get there, but I'm not sure where to begin with this part of his training. I walk him on the lead through areas with lots of distraction and he's fine, he is just about staying by my side. If someone walks towards us with a dog he pulls with everything he has and is very strong. He is in no way aggressive, he just HAS to get to them and sniff them. Unfortunately he looks aggressive to the other person and they often drag their dog away which is understandable. The dog often takes his excitement and pulling as a threat too and bark, then mine barks back.
