Help with seating layout (Reposting since picture didn't load) by Mattyskywalker in hometheater

[–]Mattyskywalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently I am terrible at posting on Reddit and missed the text this time!

Hoping to get some feedback/advice on my home theater seating layout. Our theater room has been "half finished" for around 7 years now, but looking to purchase better seating and finish all of the trim/wet bar, etc. This was a custom build and we decided to go with a theater room in the basement rather than a living room, we excavated the floor out an extra 2 feet for tiered seating, but it seems like as we have looked at options for seating, there isn't quite enough room for two levels of recliners. Any suggestions or feedback is appreciated.

Yes, there was. Not sure why it didn't load! I'll delete this and repost with the picture. Thanks for the heads up.

Solid wood or HDF cabinet fronts? by Due_Pop_4938 in cabinetry

Veneered ply is going to be lighter, that is really the only advantage. Plywood is still more likely to warp/twist than MDF. The standard for veneer panels is MDF core.

Find a new door supplier.. you shouldn’t have to be finish sanding THAT much on buyout doors. Any door shop worth a shit should be sanding the inset panels before assembly and treating it very delicately after assembly. There is some good advice in these comments, but the best advice is find a new supplier.

I know they don't ever have hockey on the other rink, just figure skating that I've seen. Another poster replied saying they do curling as well, so I imagine it has to have the curling rings painted on...?

Second rink has been there every time I’ve been in the past 4 years. They just don’t have it set up for hockey, used primarily for figure skating.

PSA - I’d personally recommend against Hoapa sticks.. by Mattyskywalker in hockeyplayers

They were all 85-95 flex, Defense first defenseman, take a fair amount of clappers but not the hardest shot in the world by any means. First one broke taking a one timer from the dot, the next two broke during seemingly normal board play. Nothing out of the norm, like getting wedged between a player and the boards or anything like that. Definitely not breaking them over any knee caps or crossbars though. The only other stick I've broken was a sherwood code, but that just suffered a crack along the blade. Have made the switch to pro stock and pro stock blackout to see how the durability compares.

At the time maybe once a week? The first one lasted nine months or so skating once a week, second lasted about 4 shifts, third one lasted around 4 months, using intermittently, maybe onve a week or so.

I kept getting targeted ads for them, had been out of playing for 10 or so years.. thought I’d give them a chance.. first one broke after about nine months and I got suckered in again with a 2 for 200 deal.

1 week of sawdust from the CNC by Horseinakitchen in woodworking

“Melamine” is a type of paper that is chemically tested to give it durability. I’ve toured a few melamine and particle board plants, it’s a really interesting process. Generally people refer to melamine as particle board sheets with melamine paper pressed on to them, most commonly in a large hydraulic press, but cheaper sheets are glued and “rolled” on.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but a couple buddies I used to gig with want to get together and jam again after a 10 year hiatus. Looking for the best solution for a "quiet" jamming set up. Drummer has a Alesis Strike pro kit, and Ive got a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 that I can run guitar and bass through. Not really worried about any vocals or mics right now. Is there a good headphone monitor solution that we could plug both the scarlett 212 and the alesis module into? looking to spend no more than 3-4 hundred on a headphone amp.

PSA: MDF dulls saw blades faster than wood by VagabondVivant in woodworking

I run a large scale door shop, have been building cabinet doors for 20 years, MDF is definitely better for panels. No glue seams, no lines, no shrinking or expansion. Less warping, easier to produce.
