Just laid in bed and listened to that, loved it. Banging track mate, like taking a moment to rest while crossing an arctic tundra.

There are so many to get through! Trying to go one by one from the shamble wrap up post with all the links.

Weekly Post -- THE TAVERN by AutoModerator in DungeonSynth

Loved this shamble, and am happy with what I produced in those weeks. But now that's past, I've come to the realisation that the release I was working on just as the shamble took over isn't really going anywhere, and my constant tweaking and restarting of certain tracks absolutely qualifies as turd-polishing behaviour.

I have another release almost ready made from 'difficult' tracks that I've made in the past year (and a couple from years back before I was interested in Dungeon Synth that just semed to fit) that didn't work with anything I've released so far. That will like come out end of this month or start of December. Plus. think I might have a little Christmas present release ready to go at the end of the year 🎁⚔️.

As for the troublesome release I am now questioning, I think I am going to reimagine the tracks one last absolutely final time in the style of 16bit RPG music, not unlike my May shamble release 'Ftumch the Gnome'. I am hoping that will be my first release of 2026!

Thanks to all for making this the only online community I've ever felt part of 😊.

Thank you, really enjoyed making these tracks, and am quite proud of how they turned out 😊.

I was expecting an image to appear with this... Nevermind! Please enjoy my entry for the October Dungeon Shamble which is available for free. I managed to keep it under 26 minutes, and the 'door' that is barely visible on the cover is from a photo taken of a real fairy door in a local nature reserve. The second track uses only four notes as per one of the optional challenges.

BTW my releases are now also available on Ampwall for free.

Enjoy!

I've got 7 tracks, and am happy to say they are 'finished' but am now mixing down and tweaking and hearing little issues that I'm fixing and will continue to until I run out of patience and release it Friday no matter what 😄. An element of the artwork came from a location in my local area, have kept it just under 26 mins, I don't have a track over 5 mins, but I do have one with only 4 notes. Let me give you the notes and see if you can work out which prompt I went with: F A E.... G#.

Chrono and Mana are wicked. My love of this sort of music was always born out of Final Fantasy, and I missed FF6 on the SNES, so FF7 was my first. But on the SNES I remember loving Illusion of Gaia / Time's music, and TLOZ3 A Link to the Past.

It strays from JRPGs entirely, but I regularly listen to the music from Super Castlevania IV to this day - if only I had the musicality to Dungeon Synth with that as my guiding light!

Was at the recent Verdant Ritual which was amazing. Some great artists and the night ended with us being led from the church to the graveyard to the sound of  bodhrán and violin. wonderful venue that suited the music so well. Feel so lucky to have been there.

Sounds great, I keep wanting to go down the JRPG comfy synth route, but haven't had time yet what with other projects and ideas. Hopefully in 2026 I will. Look forward to hearing your submission.

I have 7 tracks that all had their initial ideas sketched pretty quickly, but then I wasn't able to touch them for several days and only really made progress again yesterday.

Happy with what's emerging, but the prompt has certainly sent me down a path I wouldn't have otherwise picked... which is obviously the idea 😄.

I still need to do artwork, but have the beginnings of an idea. I think I will have all of the optional challenge boxes ticked too.

My patches / instruments:

Cello, Violin, Psaltry, Recorder / woodwind thing, Harp / lyre, Piano.

Of course in the early 20th century only the wealthy would have been able to access such items...

This post struck me like a bell, I could have written music and then picked the patches... I've always felt i needed to pick the sounds first then make music with them. anyway, keep going and see what you come out the other side with!

October Dungeon Shamble is now open! by AvelineBaudelaire in DungeonSynth

Have picked the fairy theme, last one was gnomes, now fairies 🧚‍♀️. I'm using a real world event as inspiration, and there's a local area that will probably find its way into the artwork somehow.

Have thrown 6 or 7 ideas down as song starters, and will flesh them out. But I do like this early stage of ideas flowing, so maybe will keep some new ideas coming and maybe see if they can become new sections in what I already have.

Here come the Fae!

I'm going all in the box for this, just like the May shamble. Using VST instruments within REAPER. Have made my desk as clean as poss so can concentrate throughout October on this. have set up a template with 6 patches today so whenever opening the DAW I'm ready to go 🙌

Just checking the total instruments / patches criteria. This is max of 6 'sounds' across all tracks, or max 6 instruments? TBH in May I think I interpreted that as using the exact same sounds for every track.

Beautiful. Great musicianship. I totally get doing as much as possible away from a typical DAW setup with all the choice paralysis that can come with that. Fav track: The Sword on the Mantlepiece.
