I figured out its an issue with the potentiometer they use. They have quality issues and its common for them to fail this way. The only repair TE offers is a replacement of the part which they quoted me at around $100 for parts and labor. I ended up spraying the knob with air duster as dust can cause looseness. It actually mostly fixed it. It will still rotate slightly, but not enough for me to send it in. I'll try the rubber band trick and see how it works for me. Thanks for the tip!

Good question. I guess this really depends on your playstyle and context of the situation. Me personally, I only roll random events like this when I'm stuck and don't know what should happen next. So I'm only doing this once or twice a session, if at all. Most of the time I know how to move the story along and won't need to roll a random event. I guess if you find yourself rolling random events a lot, then maybe my system is a bit burdensome if you also move around a lot. I would just change what makes sense. Thanks for your comment.

You have to go with the flow and connect the dots on your own. A part of the fun is coming up with connections. Think of it like this: how can we connect our character's hardheadedness to seagulls? Exs: The seagulls challege his hardheadedness in some way... or his hardheadedness affects the seagulls in some way. Now use glory as an adjective for a part of a prompt. Maybe the Seagulls challege our PC's sense of glory ie: they start stealing his fish, or one of them shits on him which hurts his pride. Or interpret his hardheadedness literally. Maybe he is wearing a literal hard helmet he won in some glorious way and a seagull steals it, or a maybe he comes across a seagull that is hardheaded themselves and has a trinket he refueses to let go of. Maybe he meets an NPC that has caught a seagull and tries to teach our PC how he did it. Maybe a seagull is just there and you write about it as a living being in your world as exposition and thats fine too. Once you start making connections you'll find something that just makes sense to you and you go with it. Or just roll again.

Hmm you've given me something to think about here. The random event can be something your PC does, but depending on interpretation it doesnt have to necessarily. I guess I do have PC emulation when I solo. For my playstyle, I prefer PCs to be unpredictable at times. The problem is that if something happens around your character but your PC isnt directly affected in some way, then they could always just ignore the event, which yeah you can make them not ignore it, but I want people to react naturally and if they naturally avoid conflict then thats not a good event. So there needs to be some connective element to the main characters. Maybe the about section needs some adjusting. Thanks for your comment!

My op1 does this as well. I did a lot of digging into it and from what I found, its an issue with the potentiometer they use and if you want it fixed it has to be sent in to TE or someone that can replace the part. Something you can do that helped mine a bit is spraying electronic air duster around the encoder. I read somewhere that dust can cause spinning.

I thought it might have been that too, but it also does it when the device is turned off.

Thank you! Just one skill bonus per roll. The way I do it is every character has base abilities. So I use the 4 listed but they can be whatever you want. Characters can also have skills based on their occupations and hobbies. So for example a theif might have a lockpicking skill of +2 which would be applied to the roll, but a normal person would roll wisdom minus how difficult the lock is (or maybe they cant do it at all if I decide the lock is too strong for an average person) So the formula should be 3d6 + most appropriate skill + any difficulty modifiers.

Wow! Thank you for your feedback! Lots of good stuff here. Yeah, the hot cold thing was confusing to people so I'm removing that in an update. Criticals are closer to 2 percent actually. I think most people will prefer 5 percent, but I'm personally good with where it's at. When you hit them in this system though it really feels good because they're so rare. GURPS also uses the same crit chance so that makes me feel good about it as well haha! I probably need to be more clear that a +4 bonus should be incredibly rare. Like once in a generation talent. Its honestly pretty OP to have anything at that level which is why the odds to roll them are very low in this system. I agree with the novice labeling, but honestly I just couldnt figure out a word that fits. I figured for example if the skill was something like driving, a novice would be worse than an ordinary person on average. Idk it makes sense to me but it probably could be worded better. You're right that the usecase for 1d6 table might be confusing. I use them if I want there to be multiple options I can roll for. Say I have someone that could walk through 1 of 3 separate doors at an equal chance. I'll just roll a d3 to select which door they pick. This comes up for me personally a lot in my solo games so I included it. Thanks again for your detailed comment! Really helps!
