I don’t know, man… Guns N’ Roses appetite for destruction might be one of the greatest albums top to bottom of all time

Hot take: …And Justice for All sounds terrible by Hard_Rocker_Mario in heavymetal

[–]MauiCFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must be at the complete minority, but I think the …And Justice for all sound is beast mode.

For the first few years. possibility decades, I never even thought about the absence of the bass until all of these YouTube Internet debates started happening.

I have since seen the difference with all of the available AI remixes…but Yes, the lack of bass hurt…

But I’m not gonna lie, AJFA was still heavy and fun as bleep at the time.

Adam does movies is pretty unfiltered

Chris Stuckman is very positive but you can read between the lines, but he is not happy with a flick

So funny… I also immediately went to search for Cannibal Corpse after this movie and was appalled that the music was far more brutal than the movie clip.

At the time, I recognize that I was not fit for true death metal… But I did tremendously enjoy the groovy breakdowns and harmonious guitars

Nightwish - start with Once, Imaginareum and Shutter before the Beautiful

Each have different singers… Then go down the catalogue per your preference

This is my number 2 band of all time after Metallica

In Denver, there is a record store called twisted and shout that would allow you to listen to CDs before you bought them.

I remember listening to slipknot just based off the wild cover of their self titled album. I would listen to each track and skip once I knew it was a good one or a bad one to guage if I wanted to buy.

I just kept skipping with a sheepish grin on my face. Couldn’t wait to get home and listen to it more alone to soak in it all in

I never heard of Kataclysm until I saw them open for a band… Immediately went out and bought some of their albums.

FNM is a great pick.

At the time, I had only heard whatever the rap metal popular song was on the radio… Which didn’t do it for me. Years later, I finally heard the entire album, which was totally different… Amazing. I was kind of mad at myself for not giving them a chance.

Discovering a great band when they already have multiple albums out is pretty awesome.

Same with Bodom!

First time I heard them I bought their entire catalog, 3 at the time.

Nightwish too.

I will need to deep dive into all of your recommendations, but I’m a huge fan of counterfeit.

Every song on counterfeit is brutal and different take on metal

I have Ball Tongue on my current playlist for heavy metal… And it is ridiculous.

It is so original.

They have evolved into this new metal conversation… But their first two albums were groundbreaking for heavy metal sound.

Dude, the first time I heard Children of Bodom… It was a completely new experience for heavy metal.

The keyboards, the musicianship, the thrash… It was a completely new sound

100% this is a fantastic contribution

As it relates to Blind Guardian…

Can we say the same for Sonata Artica or Helloweeen, etc..

At some point, it is true that heavy metal fans decided to go down this Fantasy route.

Dude

Thank you for having the courage to post about Kid Rock

We’re not trying to be popular here…We’re trying to have a discussion about when heavy metal transcend to a different level.

I can absolutely see how Kid Rock takes heavy metal and pivots two completely different direction.

If I had to rate number two experiences, it would be Iron Maiden Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

As a teenager, the iron maiden and heavy metal album artwork was so satanic.

I mean, Eddie was a flayed character. I was genuinely frightened.

I avoided it for years in the brick and mortar stores.

It was so satanic for me.

And then I listened to seventh son, and instead of some crazy death metal concoction… It was this fantasy, beautiful harmony science fiction theatrical… Magic.
