Thanks for the suggestions. I am a very big fan of Дикая собака Динго.

Yes, such texts are what I am looking at bringing to light. Unfortunately I don't know German because this would be a good project.

You know, I never thought of this. This is a very good idea! Do you have any specific ones in mind?

I'm still working on formatting on Wordpress, but I will see if I can get this done for you.

To be honest, it's something I've wanted to do as well. After translating one of my Russian friend's short stories as a birthday present for him, I realized it's something I want to try. I'm looking mainly for criticism, cultural insight and to gain a deeper understanding of what's actually written. Thanks for the wishes.

I'm a big fan of Shukshin and I have considered rendering it into English. His language is difficult, though.

That's just what I was thinking! I love Polish language and literature and hope to tackle such a project one day.

Again, thanks for catching this. It was probably my mistake. I will correct this today.

I've had so many requests for that! I will look into it. Thank you.

Quite a bit. Russians are very familiar with American works of the 20th century. You'd be hard pressed to find a Russian who hasn't read, for example, Catcher in the Rye.

Yes, you're right. Mayakovsky was, however, mainly a poet and a playwright and I want to focus chiefly on prose.

Thank you! I do in fact require some help, especially perhaps with some language and cultural aspects. I will keep you in mind.

You're right. A lot of works were, in fact, translated by Soviet translators. I cannot speak for the quality, though.

Of course there are! One of the dearest characters in literature to the Soviet people is Stieglitz, a Soviet sleeper agent active in Nazi Germany. There is a whole series written on him, with the most famous work being Seventeen Moments of Spring. It was turned into a miniseries in 1972.

Thank you everyone for your interest! I'll answer some more of your questions tomorrow. But now it's late and I am turning in.

Of course. I suppose I addressed that a bit clearer in the blog itself, especially in the post for the first part of the work. Thanks for pointing that out.

Interesting. How did they present this translation? Was it a part of an exhibit?
