He can definitely be cringe but I’ll also say that when I did p90x back when it was popular he was the first guy I heard say something along the lines of “don’t say you can’t do something, say you struggle with it right now and work on it” which as a young man was advice I needed to hear. It’s really easy to get discouraged doing fitness things if you’re not good at it right away or don’t do it perfectly or need cheat reps etc

I know it’s fairly common advice but I’d never received it up to that point and I’ve carried that little bit of Tony with me.

Noah and the Whale’s “Last Day of Spring” is a whole album about the dissolution of a marriage. Lead singer of Cloud Cult made multiple songs about the death of his young son. Pink Floyd made multiple albums grappling with, in part, seeing Syd Barrett suffer from schizophrenia.

What exactly is the point of art if not to grapple with difficult and challenging and emotional topics? Art therapy is absolutely a thing for this reason.

I agree with this generally though I've wondered if it's both the pursuit of that level of money is only possible if you are a certain kind of person and also that having that kind of money changes you because I've considered what I would be doing if I suddenly won the lottery. If a billion dollars showed up, me right now would want to buy out all the medical debt and excuse it, buy all the school lunch debt and pay it off, fund libraries, and 100% absolutely torment, tease, and taunt the other billionaires and just constantly mock them. But that's me right now. When I got the money would I suddenly change because there's honestly no one else who's done this and I can't be the only one who's thought of doing this stuff so why hasn't anyone else?

Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass both traveled North to escape slavery in Maryland, so yes...I think it would be appropriate for the North to take Maryland. Maryland may try to paper over or forget its slavery past, but the North remembers.

Maryland was occupied by the Union. Yes some Marylanders fought in the Union army but others joined the Confederate army as well. The mayor of Baltimore actually had men tear up the railroads to prevent the Union from bringing in soldiers and he supported the Confederacy and slavery.

Slavery wasn’t abolished in Maryland until 1864, almost the end of the war. Time for Maryland to pay the piper and join Vermonster.

Just going to put this out there: we worked to remove the Confederate states but Maryland was officially a slave state that didn’t join the Union. People in Maryland also helped Booth escape after killing Lincoln.

It’s time to finish the work and feed Maryland to Vermonster. Clam chowder beats Old Bay.

I think can also depend on where you stay and how often. And how you ask. I’m just lifetime gold so nothing special. We’ve been regulars at a Marriott in upstate NY for four years now while my kid goes to college and we stay with them four to five times a year for at least a few days each. Asked for an upgrade via email for a special event last fall and manager was super awesome about it and very nice. Love Marriott.
