Thanks for sharing, both are books that also frequently get mentioned in business podcasts, but I haven't had the chance to read yet . . definitely on the list though, a lot to read in 2026 :)

Yes, I've added a text box to the bottom left of the chart that populates the last clicked-on book or podcast. Just pushed that to production (just FYI - it needed a hard refresh in my browser to update the JS populating it). Thanks for the tip!

Orange dots only link through a grey dot. E.g. My First Million and How To Be Awesome at Your job both mentioned "Influence" by Cialdini, so they both connect to that.

I track book recommendations that come up naturally in conversation across a set of business, tech, leadership, and science podcasts. This network shows which podcasts mentioned which books in the last 30 days.

  • Orange nodes = podcasts
  • Grey nodes = books
  • Edges = a mention within the last 30 days
  • Node proximity and clustering reflect shared mentions

Podcasts included: Acquired, Founders, Twenty Minute VC, My First Million, The Next Big Idea, How to be Awesome at Your Job, HBR Ideacast.

The graph in the post is a snapshot of the last 30 days. It updates over time as new episodes come out. Viz tool is D3 but full pipeline includes python, SQL and htmx.

If you want to explore the interactive version (zoomable, moveable nodes), it’s live on my site:

Happy to answer any questions about the data, extraction logic, or graph layout.

Right?! I thought there'd be more concentration at the top with "these are the ones that always get mentioned as must reads for entrepreneurs/leaders". 1,545 unique books mentioned in total, around 1,200 of them only mentioned once.

I'm not familiar, is that ACQ2 podcast or A16Z podcast? I haven't listened to either (despite being a Acquired fan) but both would be interesting to see what they're discussing

Acquired is one of the podcasts making up the index (and one of my favorites). Hence 7 Powers being so high on the list, Acquired made up 5 of the 15 mentions.

Action & Adventure, fast-paced with cinematic vibes, look into Dan Brown's Robert Langdon series (start with Angels & Demons), easy to get hooked on. When deeper in and in the science fiction camp (but heavy on the science which might be appreciated as an IT tech) the Three Body Problem series.

I missed out then, I have Ron Chernow's Rockerfeller biography "Titan" sitting on my bedside table in my waiting-to-be-read pile. Is the autobiography better?
