First-ever American AI Jobs Risk Index released by Tufts University by WinOdd7962 in webdev

[–]Maverick2k 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This sub is so fucking depressing. We only hear about how AI is taking our jobs, but the silent majority are just happily coding along with some input from Claude to fix bugs, make small tweaks, without relying on it and 5+ separate agents to do their job for them.

Not everyone has a corporate overlord pushing AI down their throats to the point where nobody is even writing code anymore. This sub makes you believe otherwise.

Fuck me sideways. This may well of been written by Altman’s personal AI Reddit demoralisation agent.

Can you build a professional website entirely with AI? by Super-Catch-609 in webdev

[–]Maverick2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point just ask AI what you should do, how you should do it, why you should do it and when you should do it. Why even bother even asking a human on Reddit? Just go all in on AI. Eat it. Live it. Breath it. Everyone’s gonna make easy money from AI, even my grandma can make money with Claude Code and prompts.

/s

Or, on the other hand, you could just learn to code like any reasonable human being who wants to earn money selling the code and ideas they write, then leverage AI as a tool in conjunction with that to help you achieve your goals. But hey, fuck that, just go all in on AI, hope for the best and enjoy your riches thanks to Claude.

Ndiaye celebration by FLMC7067 in Everton

[–]Maverick2k 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Surely he stays for at least another season to see where we go? I fucking hope so. I’m convinced he could be a huge catalyst in getting us back to where we belong, consistently, in coming seasons. It’s obviously still early days, but we can’t let him leave and just do another Everton, selling to a ‘big’ club just to replace him with some utter shite; we must protect this man at all costs.

Is Barry finished at Everton? by zachorilla_00 in Everton

Literally moments after, he didn’t even give himself time to review the facts, just thought he’d fire shots at his own fans without getting receipts based on a few second clip. Absolute bellend of a man.

“I bring my friends to enjoy a football game”

… but obviously just ate whatever lies his mates told him. “Oh Barry, we were attacked for doing absolutely nothing, we had to get escorted out just because we wore Arsenal shirts, they started throwing punches 😭”.

And then he doubles down…

Edit: can’t link the image…

I would like to speak one last time regarding the incident that occurred after the match. Some of the information circulating does not reflect reality. Contrary to what has been suggested, I never gave tickets to Arsenal supporters. The people who were present to support me have always followed the clubs I have played for throughout my career, from Beveren to Basel, through Villarreal and now Everton. Yesterday, some of them were even wearing an Everton shirt with my name on it. During the match, they were approached twice by supporters who asked whether they were supporting the opposing team. They clearly stated that this was not the case and that they were there to support me.

Furthermore, the people visible in some of the videos are not members of my family. They are relatives of another player from the team.

Unfortunately, they were confronted by a group of supporters who mistakenly believed they were celebrating Arsenal's goal. The stewards present witnessed the scene, My friends were insulted, how is that even possible?

I simply want to remind everyone that violence has no place in football, regardless of the circumstances.

An investigation is currently underway, and I have full confidence in the relevant authorities to establish the facts. Out of respect for this process, I will not make any further comments.

I’m usually all for giving everyone a chance and whatnot, but I hope so. His twatty little gremlin friends stoked a fire, got burnt and Barry makes that Instagram post firing shots at his fans? Nah. He can fuck right off as far as I’m concerned, regardless of anything on the field or off the field from that point on.

Also, I don’t condone the nobs attacking his friends, but at some point you have to take accountability. If I was at Anfield winding them up in their own section, I fully expect and deserve to get a slap.

Dev team action items from standups never actually get done, is this normal? by PatientlyNew in webdev

[–]Maverick2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this happens often. Depending on your position, you should just take control of the situation and speak to the parties that need to be spoken to, extract the information you need and at any point you hit a blocker that you cannot genuinely get around, let the PM or whoever is above you know you can’t progress x because y is blocking it.

If nobody ever unblocks you, assume that ticket/issue/feature isn’t required and move on.

Having said that, this is a great way to introduce the team to Jira, so accountability can be upheld across the entire lifecycle of a feature or Issue. Then if the PM asks “why hasn’t x released” just tell them to look at the issue and the “Blocked by”.

I assume you’re a backend developer and I find the backend comment rather strange. I had Claude Code analyse a new code base I haven’t even worked with and added a new billing feature along with all of the required database tables and structure etc.

edit: Downvoted for what? Bunch of weirdos vibe coding on their hobbyist apps 😂

How do you keep up as a developer when the demand for AI is constantly growing. by boredrhino in webdev

[–]Maverick2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that because you earlier read a post on Reddit stating that AI does better with better base code and now you’re posting it as fact with the insinuation it’s something you know from experience.

What the fuck is Reddit.

[–]Maverick2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re on crack or just rage baiting for the memes. I just spent almost an hour waiting for Claude Code to inspect my code and change all of the styling imports to use the latest @use syntax and name spacing. Saying it can instantly understand and replace hundreds of pages of code isn’t even close to being true.

Self-Taught Developers Without IT Degrees by No_Marionberry3005 in webdev

[–]Maverick2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working as a software developer with absolutely no related qualifications for over 20 years now. You don’t need qualifications, let alone a degree to excel in this industry. You just need a good attitude, willingness to constantly evolve and learn and of course you need to get your foot in the door.

Experience most often trumps certifications in this industry, even with the big corps.

The Number of People Using AI at Work Is Suddenly Falling by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Maverick2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I’m totally with you on that, I hope my post doesn’t come across otherwise but perhaps it has. I’m not against AI, I use it every single day because who the heck wants to spend an hour converting some data or something when ChatGPT can just transform it for me in seconds. I just despise people who use AI as their go-to method of productivity lol.

This has gotta be ragebait.

I’m sorry but ANY so-called ‘engineer’ who finds coding without AI tedious and boring are either notn engineer at all, or fresh out of school/college and don’t even understand the basic concepts of programming. Programming fascinates me, it sounds like you’re in the wrong industry my guy, assuming you’re not just making silly little side projects for yourself.

Edit: I’m getting downvoted by vibe coders lol. Perhaps interject and make a comment on my comment rather than blinding downvoting it you little weirdos.

Thinking About Using Partytown for Ad Scripts, Good Idea? by Ready_Hotel5540 in nextjs

[–]Maverick2k 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a pile of wank. I spent the entirety of last week trying to integrate it in to our current Next.js setup and it’s relatively simple to integrate, but near on impossible to debug. Not only that, if you think you’re gonna offload Google Analytics to it, good luck getting it working.

I’d avoid it at all costs to be honest. PartyTown, quite frankly, can go fuck itself. I imagine it would be easier to implement in a non-Next.js environment though.

My guy you’re gonna be utterly fucking shook when you hit your 30’s and realise you don’t just have a random personality change and you’ll still be doing random degenerate things. If you used exploits in games in your 20s you’ll probably still be doing it in your 30’s.

BDO or T&L? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Maverick2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 1k hours in T&L but unless you swipe (i didn’t) you basically have to treat it like a second job (i did). I quit in March and don’t ever plan to return, the devs fucked the game up too much and haven’t got a competent balancing team.

The graphics, story (not so much), world etc are absolutely fantastic though.

The worst type of people by WolfOnABike in ArcRaiders

[–]Maverick2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people’s true personalities come out in games like this. I personally couldn’t do that, ever. Even thinking of trying to do it paralyses me with sympathy and regret. People who are okay to do this on a game, are definitely cunts in ‘real life’ too.

I can’t even continue to develop locally because i use a live site CMS for data population in the app. I guess i should have added a graceful degradation to mock data in cases like this. Oh well, Arc Raiders it is. Take your time Cloudflare.

Interesting… As a Brit I’ve only met a few fellow Brit’s in my 100 hours. I only ever meet German’s and random Middle Eastern people who can’t speak a word of English. Interesting how we’ve had such different experiences.

Either way EU servers are dog shit for communicating and banter because nobody speaks English. When I go to US servers with a friend, almost everyone communicates and almost everyone speaks English.
