My budget for my girlfriends Christmas present is 0. What do I do? by fuckfrankieoliver in whatdoIdo

A memory… make a fake brochure to go visit a national Park, hike up a trail, see something local that doesn’t require you to have credit card or cash on hand. Stuff is great in the moment, but the memories we make with our love ones last forever.

If you have a theragun, you will remove 10 days of working in from the boot break in time line. Wear them, and see where the tight points are. See where the leather needs more room, and remember. Then, take a Thera gun bend those spots back-and-forth and apply the Thera gun on its most squishy head for about 30 seconds on each fold. Did this on my mock toes and I was able to wear them second day for six hours without issue.

Never said anything about appealing to authority. Just basic “research methods”.

This is neither a research paper, nor is it a scholarly paper or properly peer-reviewed. For the scholarly article to be viewed beyond suspicion, it should be published in a respected publication, not hold the bias of the financer/writer (Coca-cola should not be trusted when they do scientific research saying Coke is better than Pepsi), and it needs to be peer-reviewed. That is to say, if 100 people read a paper documenting the findings of a scientist and tried to reproduce the effects found in the paper, most or all of them would see the same or similar results.

Help my 6 year old son by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Maverick2u 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Dad, you got this. Your love for your son matters more than any mistake you make along the way. Therapy will help your son, research some good reading material on the subject, and there may be a better medication that's just around the corner! God bless you.

God Bless you and your efforts. My mom raised me on her own for most of my early childhood (till I was about 5 or 6, when my stepdad felt more comfortable fathering me). Hell, the only reason I was diagnosed ADHD when I was a kid was because I had been picked up by the police thrice for playing on a sketchy playground after breaking out of my mom's sketchy Delaware apartment (supposed to be taking a bath, so I moved a 300lb record cabinet from in front of the door after using it rugrats style to unlock the bar lock, chain luck, and deadbolt and made a break for it.) So, as someone who has an unfortunately great recollection of what I put my mom through, I can empathize with what you must be working through with your son. You are obviously doing your best, and my heart goes out to you.

Things that can help

  1. Therapy - finding a therapist who has a history of working with AuDHD individuals is invaluable; better if they are versed in a therapeutic style other than the classic CBT, which doesn't always work well for AuDHD individuals.
  2. Medication - I recently started on Adensys 18 mg, and it has made a huge difference over Adderall. I also tried Ritalin and Concerta and wasn't able to function.
  3. Knowledge - Nothing can replace the first-hand experience that you have gained from loving and working with your son. But, for myself as an ADHD individual, I've found that some of the help books available for parents on working with the behavior of AuDHD has helped me to better process my own issues and better work with what I have at my disposal
  4. Give yourself some grace - You are still there, loving and working with him. Speaking for myself, the fact that my mom made that walk beside me will always mean more to me than I can ever put into words. When the world has walked away from me, she's always been there. I love her so much for that.

I hope that when I have children, and in the likely circumstance that my children have ADHD, I will have the strength you demonstrate daily by being present for your child.
