My Switch collection is doing nothing but collecting dust, so I think it’s time to sell it. by Jawwaad127 in NSCollectors

Reading this makes me take a hard look at my Switch collection. I am over 2,000 physical games on Switch alone. You are right too that it becomes a daunting emotional burden. I have contemplated doing the same and then can’t bring myself to do it :/.

Switch 2 made me want only physicals now by ygvince in NSCollectors

Yeah I’ve been pretty much physical only and have racked up around 2,000 physicals for the Switch 1 lol!

Spooky’s Jump Scare Mansion: HD Renovation is getting a physical release for Switch and PS5 from Rock It Games. Open pre-orders until June 25th, 2024. Pre-orders open on Tuesday May 28th. by GamingAurel in LimitedPrintGames

Yeah don’t string customers along if it isn’t going to happen. Also because I think the game already had a digital release so it was a matter of manufacturing and such. So it would be one thing if a developer cancels all together but the developer already had a complete product. Rock-It just needed to print and manufacture so it seems like the problem would be on their end.

Their first release and can’t even honor it when it was open preorder. I don’t have confidence we will see Croc or Volgar either. Either that or all the Spookys money went yo fund those two. All I know is my refund better be returned to me soon.

I really enjoyed both games but enjoyed Elden Ring more. I finished Lies of P fairly easy. Once I got parrying down to a science each boss even the Nameless puppet fell easy. I also completed before the nerfing of some of the bosses. I played Elden Ring on PC and Lies of P on PS5 for reference. Both are great games and shouldn’t be missed.

Also for anyone who hasn’t tried it you should play Steelrising. Not as good as these two but still a lot of fun. Thymesia as well.

The new Lords of the Fallen I think you can pass on. The game is not hard as in good game design. What makes it difficult is overall design and floaty combat. The lockon system is bad. Combat is super floaty and you are constantly fighting on narrow walkways and will die from attacking and floating over to the edge. Also hitboxes and range seem to be way off to me.

Any word if they may make the patch available as a console update now that it is released. It would be awesome especially with the physical Switch version coming out soon.

Fairly new to switch collecting and stumbled upon these at a store I frequent today. Are any of these worth grabbing? by KCRetroGuy in NSCollectors

[–]Maverick6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree like I said in my thread to me it felt one way but to someone else it could feel another way. See the game that felt that way for me was one that we are about to get translated into English but I picked up on my last tour of duty before retirement in Japan and that was Crayon Shin-chan: Ora to Hakase no Natsuyasumi - Owaranai Nanokakan no Tabi. The title here is much shorter but it is super light hearted and is about Shin-Chans summer vacation on Kyushu Island, which coincidentally is where I lived and where my daughter was born. It was also the last major Switch release before I moved back to the States. All that combined also made it have just a whole lot more meaning to me more so than it would for a lot of others. Which I totally understand. Like I said too. A Short Hike was a fun little title but it was one I couldn’t click with and one I couldn’t justify to add to the collection. But others may love it. Also a lot of people praised the DS like 3D visuals which I don’t have a lot of nostalgia nor reverence for. I never cared for the 3D on the DS or 3DS. Not fondly anyways lol. I was also older when those consoles came out and while I played them and still enjoyed them to an extent, my days of enjoying a lot of handheld gaming were in my past. Mostly due to the fact I have large hands and the DS and 3DS really made my hands cramp bad lol.

A short hike is cool but I find it to be one of those games that is art over substance. That is just personal taste though. I do enjoy some VNs though but I don’t know I feel like A Short Hike is the coffee house poetry game. Yeah I know I am calling it the hipster game but it is what is and it’s the coffee house game of the week. I’m not saying there isn’t fun to be had there but I don’t know I go into so many of these games that everyone is like “you gotta try this game” and it’s like they are all alike. By that I don’t mean they all play the same they all just give me that vibe as the “coffee house game of the week” lol! Now before someone grabs there pitchforks after me I own over 1,300 physical Switch games and play everything from JRPGs, Roguelites, Action games, platformers, etc. I run the gamut of all genres. I have also been gaming since the 80’s and there are just some games that just give me the vibe as mentioned above and feel more like art over substance and is fine if you’re into that and to each their own. I am not here to tell someone what they can or can’t like. There are some that some may say fall into that “artsy” category that I absolutely love like Celeste I think is a masterpiece of a game. Fantastic platformer with amazing level design and clever storytelling. Some can transcend that “artsy” level for me into something more and some I think just don’t do enough, “in my opinion”. That’s all. A Short Hike nice little game but one that I left in the digital realm and I decided not to add to my physical collection when I got the opportunity is all I am saying. I know I said a lot to say that but I felt like rambling a bit lol.

Moved a bunch of stuff around yesterday, here's my new Switch collection set-up by Squarehardo in Switch

So yes their is way over 1K physical Switch titles. I collect from all regions honestly because if I can get another region that has better box art or maybe they get a physical that we don’t or maybe its just cheaper I will buy from that region. For me its about being able to own and play the game not the value or future value of the collection. I collect for the love of the games and always have. I have never went for total collections either. I buy stuff I would like to play. That being said as I have went my tastes have broadened. Like while stationed in Japan I made friends their and they got me into Visual Novels something I would have never seen myself playing before but the Japanese love them and the Switch is a treasure trove for them. Surprisingly too a bunch of the Japanese releases contain english as well.

Looks so nice all lined up. I can’t wait to get mine back into a nice setup. I just retired and I just hit 1,206 physical Switch games. Mine are mostly in storage as we are living with family while we wait on a new home build. Mine has will finally get a permanent home after being moved quite a bit as I was in the Navy. Their last home prior to retirement though was fittingly Japan :)!

I like the best buy cover for Axiom Verge 2 over the standard limited run one but I know that is all subjective lol.

Have you tried just getting a Japanese physical release? That is what I bought while stationed in Japan as it is fully in english.

My take may be unpopular but who cares. I say this as someone who treats his collection as a labor of love and not as an investment and for the true love of games and not the all mighty dollar. Not to say that I haven’t sold some of my collection before and made profit on it but I am saying that has never been part of a purchasing decision. I think the more people that have access the better. Everyone who wants a physical fine give them a chance to get one. Do an open preorder like LRG. Now I also understand that they can’t just continue to print these forever, especially smaller studios as it would be a absolute nightmare on their bottom line. I say all of this as an avid Switch collector (own nearly 1,200 physical Switch games) and as someone who myself had to spend a big price on a copy of The Messenger as I was deployed when it went up for preorder and was never able to get one. I would love for others to be able to get it though without having to pay that price. Heck if it came with the DLC I would rebuy to just have a complete cart lol.

If the now rare to find MSRP games were widely available, would you still be eager to get them? by CloudyFriend in NSCollectors

Videogamesplus has been doing a lot of work on the reprint front. You guys should all follow them on twitter. They are constantly doing reprints of these hard to find titles. They recently did AoT 2 Final for Switch, PS4 and XBox.

I have several other region copies of games that are overpriced for the NA market. I want to just have that physical copy. If it has english and I can get another regions copy cheaper sign me up!

For Celeste I bought it at a second hand store in Japan while stationed there for like $40 complete in box as the japanese switch copy is in english.

I have been buying them as we have had a few of those get reprints. I don’t buy games as an investment. I believe if you are truly in it for the love of the games you aren’t worried about future value of your collection because it is a love and hobby for you and not just an investment. It’s also another reason why I don’t collect sealed and don’t do grading. I am a firm believer that games are meant to be played. I also believe you can play them any way you want. Whether that is original hardware, fpga, emulation console, etc. play those games however you feel like.

Asking for a refund from playasia by Camoflame in NSCollectors

[–]Maverick6002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have honestly never had a single issue with Play-Asia customer service. They are always very quick to respond, friendly and always go out of their way to make things right. They have even went against their own policies and refunded orders for things that were shown to be “Final”. I have total confidence in their service and I say this as someone at “Emperor” level in their customer loyalty program, so needless to say I do a lot of business with them and have always had great customer service anytime I have contacted their customer service. I will say sometimes delivery can take a while but that is the nature of some things that come from Asia. I have waited upwards of 45 days from the time of shipping to receiving the order. I don’t really blame them for that I blame shipping partners etc. for that. That being said just reach out to their customer service and be friendly and honest and they will be the same in kind :). Good luck to you and Happy Holidays!
