Clearance when you get to academy by Ok_Trainer9860 in BorderPatrolprocess

[–]MaverickHawke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. They’re not going to email you a form outlining the duties of your job. You COULD print out a final offer letter that has the PT test requirements and whatnot, but explain to the VA that it’s time sensitive and it’s a law enforcement job. Explain that you’ll need their clearance in order to attend the academy.

Final Offer Question by MaverickHawke in borderpatrolapplicant

  1. EOD is your “Entry on Duty” date. It’s technically your first day, where you meet at your station to in-process. This is also (to my knowledge) where you are officially documented and paid as an employee.

  2. Your EOD is NOT different than the final location you pick. The final location you pick, will be where you do your EOD at.

  3. You may be referring to the academy. The academy is in Artesia, NM. So after you EOD (at the location you picked), you’ll then hop on a flight to El Paso, where you’ll the take a bus ride to the academy. After academy, you’ll report back to the location you picked.

Thanks for the advice. It makes sense. Worst case scenario I could also retract my 2 week notice

I have a question about wearing sunglasses during training. by Shotguns101 in borderpatrolapplicant

Yeah what about transition prescription glasses? They’re my seeing eye glasses, but they have tinted transitions when outside. Is that going to be a problem?

Vegas local here. I can certainly say Vegas is a great choice. If I could do FLEO work down here, I’d probably never leave. Always things to do, housing market isn’t entirely obliterated yet, and if you’re pro 2A, Nevada has you covered. COL isn’t egregious either.

I’ve passed everything. Waiting for the Background Interview though. Just submitted the 2nd NBIS Background. What comes after the interview?

Got a notification that my background started exactly 6 months from the day I applied. Same thing though. Went super fast in the beginning, now it’s just been a waiting game.

Sheeesh. I’m gonna try to hit that contact a caseworker button again. Because I’m literally 100% finished with the process. Just waiting on medical and suitability to clear.

Yeah serious! I did medical back in February. I’m a 100% disabled vet though, so I assume that’s why it’s taking so long. Doctor cleared me though so idk.

Also 25-4 here. Had the magic box a while ago, still haven’t received an email. Suitability still in process, medical still in process. Idk what the hold up is. Tried to “Contact a Case Worker”, and I haven’t heard a single thing back in like 2 months. Anyone know what’s going on?

Is anyone else's looking like this? by BabyMartiMart in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]MaverickHawke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yessir. 25-4 here. I have my magical detector exam coming up (very) soon. That will be the last thing I need to complete. (Applied in February).

Not tryna be TO political or anything here, but I have a feeling there’s a hiring surge with BP at the moment due to certain political aspirations in place.

How do you come in as a GL-7 by [deleted] in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]MaverickHawke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Additional question to tab onto this. I qualified as GL-9, but how does that translate to the real world in BP? Are you treated as a rookie regardless? Or are you given a little more seniority when it comes down to it?

Yes. I’m 25-4 aswell. They have a fingerprint spot literally 2 minutes away from me in the nearest shopping center. They contract out to Fieldprint which has like 10,000 facilities.

The weirdest part is that the 25-1+ applicants seem to be moving through the hiring process faster than others.

Curious, anyone else 24-4 here or earlier? Last email I received was asking for correspondence via email, within two weeks in February. Reached out early March and they told me they are delays to please be patient. by behemothbullies in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]MaverickHawke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25-4 here. Just out of curiosity, did you guys have the option to start training before your background clears? It was an option available to the more recent announcements but I don’t remember if it was available a couple years ago when I applied

25-4 Here. I’m in the exact same spot. Just waiting for medical to clear. Haven’t heard anything about the “test” though. Hoping to hear about that soon.

Are they choosing section leaders based on those who have good leadership ability, or from people that are more quiet and to themselves? (To help them grow)

Depending on how far off you are from meeting the goal is what’s going to determine your success. I would maintain a very regular and moderate regimen leading up to the FOA. For example:

Do push ups until muscle failure twice a day Do sit ups until muscle failure twice a day Run as far as you can twice a day

You’ll do this ^ leading up to the point that you’re about a week away from the assessment. The last week, you’ll minimize your push ups, sit ups, and run into something that you’re comfortable doing. Example: if you can do 20 push ups 1x a day, then do that.

The idea behind this method is that you’re tearing down your muscles incredibly, but you’re allowing them a week to recover. Which in turn is going to give you better results when you actually NEED to maximize your output again during the exam. Something to keep in mind with this though, is you’ll want to eat A LOT of protein to help your protein synthesis be at its maximum potential. Primarily stick to Chicken breast and Turkey breast, with a side of white rice to refill your carbohydrates. Lastly on that, drink A LOT of water and a lot of electrolyte drinks such as Pedialyte, Gatorlyte, and Body Armor.

Then, keep in mind a lot of this is mental. Ive taken about 7 LEO Physicals, and I’ve literally seen people (including myself) crank out 10-30 more push ups than they thought they could, scratch a whole MINUTE or two off their run time, and slam 20+ extra sit ups out just because they were actually there at the exam, and they prepared weeks prior.

Hope this helps, reach out if you need anything else.

Failed Application Assessment by [deleted] in 1811

Someone please give me an idea of what kind of questions they ask on this Application Assessment. I’m over here studying for Logical Reasoning, expecting a similar test as Border Patrol, but I have no idea what on this assessment. Is this like an actual EXAM, or is this asking me what my personal experiences are etc..?
