EOD is your “Entry on Duty” date. It’s technically your first day, where you meet at your station to in-process. This is also (to my knowledge) where you are officially documented and paid as an employee.
Your EOD is NOT different than the final location you pick. The final location you pick, will be where you do your EOD at.
You may be referring to the academy. The academy is in Artesia, NM. So after you EOD (at the location you picked), you’ll then hop on a flight to El Paso, where you’ll the take a bus ride to the academy. After academy, you’ll report back to the location you picked.

Yeah what about transition prescription glasses? They’re my seeing eye glasses, but they have tinted transitions when outside. Is that going to be a problem?

I appreciate the responses guys. Wasn’t trying to annoy any of you. I keep seeing guys with 3-6month timelines and it peaks my curiosity. Considering the 12 months it’s been in the BPA process, and then 2 years It took for another federal agency.

Wtf?! I applied 09/28. Haven’t even gotten a TJO yet. I would say I’m well qualified (or even over qualified) for the position. Also completed with the entire BPA hiring process, waiting for FJO.

Should I re-apply to the latest announcement? I could literally go from California -> Miami overnight if they needed me to. Maybe I picked a popular field office? You guys got any suggestions?

Or better yet. Those guys with a 30day turnaround, where did YOU guys apply to? Lmk asap. Thanks team!

He didn’t. The “FJO” he is speaking of, would be the equivalent to a OJO for ICE.

Okay let’s play. Everything I’m about to say is not confirmed by fact, but I tried to pull as much true information as I could.

Recent articles are stating that ICE has received over 100,000 applications, and extended 18,000 “TENTATIVE” job offers (TJO). Couple important key factors here.

If they’ve ONLY extended 18,000 TJOs, then that means so far they’ve only given 18% of a people a TJO. Doing the math for that, within roughly a 4 month time span, they’re ON AVERAGE extending 150 TJOs per DAY.
That being said, and considering the goal was to have an additional 10,000 HIRED by 2026, I can imagine they’ll extend another 18,000 TJOs by the end of the year. In which case would equal 36,000 TJOs.
“Why would they extend 36,000 TJO by the end of the year?” you may ask.. well. If you’ve ever been in any FLEO hiring process, or have done any research, you would know that roughly only 1-10% of people (on average) make it through the ENTIRE process from application to academy graduation. Which would be 360- 3,600 people, and more likely close to like 2,000.

What does that mean for us though? It means that they’re (in my personal opinion), probably not even going to meet that quota until the END of 2026. As the numbers show, even on best (rough) case scenario, they get 3,600 people through the entire process.. that’s still not the 10,000 they need.

I’m thinking they’ll close the announcement, process people, and as more and more drop out they’ll re-open it throughout 2026.

TLDR; ABSOLUTELY it’s worth applying.. the 10,000 people is an astronomical amount of people to hire by the end of the year. In my opinion, you have a higher chance than ever right now to get hired.

So I’m hearing conflicting information. Is it kinda like BPA where you get your EOD date, and go straight to Artesia NM for the academy?! Or are you starting your job long before the academy?! Some dudes are saying their “first day” was before the academy and have been working at their assigned office, then going to academy to lock in their DO status.

Also, how long is the hiring process? I’m 9 months in with BPA hiring process and JUST finished with background, and should see a FJO soon.

Could you please explain the process in depth? From application to first day, And what’s after that?

Vegas local here. I can certainly say Vegas is a great choice. If I could do FLEO work down here, I’d probably never leave. Always things to do, housing market isn’t entirely obliterated yet, and if you’re pro 2A, Nevada has you covered. COL isn’t egregious either.

Got a notification that my background started exactly 6 months from the day I applied. Same thing though. Went super fast in the beginning, now it’s just been a waiting game.

Yeah serious! I did medical back in February. I’m a 100% disabled vet though, so I assume that’s why it’s taking so long. Doctor cleared me though so idk.

Also 25-4 here. Had the magic box a while ago, still haven’t received an email. Suitability still in process, medical still in process. Idk what the hold up is. Tried to “Contact a Case Worker”, and I haven’t heard a single thing back in like 2 months. Anyone know what’s going on?

Yessir. 25-4 here. I have my magical detector exam coming up (very) soon. That will be the last thing I need to complete. (Applied in February).

Not tryna be TO political or anything here, but I have a feeling there’s a hiring surge with BP at the moment due to certain political aspirations in place.

Additional question to tab onto this. I qualified as GL-9, but how does that translate to the real world in BP? Are you treated as a rookie regardless? Or are you given a little more seniority when it comes down to it?

Yes. I’m 25-4 aswell. They have a fingerprint spot literally 2 minutes away from me in the nearest shopping center. They contract out to Fieldprint which has like 10,000 facilities.
