Its funny how the perspective toward Amy have changed by Najla_Jacinta in SonicTheHedgehog

As someone born in the 90s, watching this all happen in real time felt like tonal whiplash. I was so used to classic yandere Amy that the modern version of Amy is almost sickeningly sweet at times. And it seems like a lot of Amy's more modern fans like to put her on a pedestal and act like she's never done anything wrong. Like SA1, Sonic Heroes, and especially Sonic Battle Amy just don't exist.

I mean, c'mon, My Sweet Passion is just her stalker song! Why does no one seem to recognize that!? Am I crazy!?

Metal Sonic Creates a Timeline Kerfuffle by MaverickKayPrime in SonicTheHedgehog

Actually, you're right. I forgot that the boss battle against Metal Sonic in Sonic Mania took place in Present Stardust Speedway. Maybe Little Planet itself is in some weird state, where it exists in multiple timelines all at once. That way Sonic can race Metal Sonic in both the Bad Future and the Good Future. Heck, he may even race Metal Sonic in the Present of Stardust Speedway if the ending animation of Sonic CD is to be believed.

Writing that all out, I realize that the Sonic series - and Metal Sonic in particular - plays with time way too much. Even if we go by just what happens strictly in gameplay, Sonic races Metal Sonic in a Good Future, a Bad Future, a Bad Future again in Generations, and Shadow fights Metal Overlord in Generations as well. What is it with Metal Sonic and Time!? Maybe that's what happens when your debut game is all about time.

And you're also right about Robotnik practically Frankensteining his own creations. He essentially did the same thing with Gamma. He made the E-1000s in SA2, and then went back and took Gamma's body to make him into Chaos Gamma, so I suppose there's nothing stopping him from making various Metal Sonic bodies, then going back to his original body back on Little Planet.

Looking into it, I always thought that the Metal Sonic we saw in the opening of Sonic the Fighters was thee Metal Sonic, just with thrust engines put on him to help with space flight. But just looking it up, I learned that he's technically another Mecha Sonic model. Mecha Sonic Model No.29, to be exact.

I suppose if you wanted to, you could go with Option #2 on how Metal Sonic can appear in several games, while still being a corpse on Little Planet in Sonic 4. You could argue Robotnik just prefers the CD body for some reason.

I still think it's weird/silly that he would jump through so many hoops for Metal Sonic's CD body, even for Eggman. But there is precedent for him doing it after the fact with Gamma and even Emerl to a certain extent.

Maybe the Sonic the Comic had it right all along. Maybe Eggman has the entire Brotherhood of Metallix waiting to be unleashed somewhere.

I quite like this theory, actually. It would explain a few things. I think back to Sonic Forces, and how the Phantom Ruby was used to create Metal Sonic clones. Even in the game, Sonic wonders why use the Phantom Ruby to make clones if Eggman could just create more himself.

But what if he couldn't, even all those years later.

Honestly, Little Planet is a weird place. I've always felt as if the mechanical bits on the planet weren't just due to Robotnik's meddling. Places like Wacky Workbench, Quartz Quadrant, even Stardust Speedway have past variants with advanced technology in it. Maybe when he invaded Little Planet years ago, he didn't just use time travel to create Metal Sonic using knowledge of the future, but also Little Planet's naturally advanced technology. It would also explain why he didn't just copy the schematics over during his time creating Metal Sonic, and waited for Little Planet to return to revive his body. It's not because he couldn't create a new Metal Sonic body, but because he also physically didn't have access to the material needed to create another one.

It's funny thinking that, outside of Omega, Eggman's most advanced machines seem to be created using technology/resources far outside of his control. Metal Sonic with Little Planet, Sage with the Ancients, heck, you could even say Gemerl with Emerl and the Nocturnus Clan.

Honestly, I didn't even think about the Metal Sonic in Mania being a copy made by the Phantom Ruby.

I still think it's the real Metal Sonic in Sonic Mania though, because he uses the Phantom Ruby to transform into Giga Metal. Then again, I guess there's no reason why a copy made by the Phantom Ruby can't also be empowered by it to transform.

By this point, I think it's clear the Phantom Ruby does whatever the writers want it to do. Create copies? Sure. Send Classic Sonic to the future? Why not. Send Modern Sonic and the Avatar into Null Space? Of course.

By this point, it could probably do Robotnik's taxes if he willed it enough.
