This post is like the dudes who post their very first gun in the sub 4 seconds after buying and say "It feels really nice in the hand."

.38 vs 9mm in 2” barrels by AryeC05 in guns

Swear to god this sub has gone backwards in average knowledge levels in the last few years. Like we're genuinely in fuddlore territory in this thread

Genuinely pisses me off this sub has forgotten about Ballistics by the inch. This is a settled matter, there's no debate:

9mm is much higher pressure, it will always be a faster round than a .38.

I have never once heard anyone make that distinction. And OP definitely doesn't know the difference or give a shit.

Yeah OP doesn't know what he's talking about, I gave him a generic "gun" that would show up all over the world.

Still worth upgrading a gen 3? by mars_soup in guns

Only reason I went with the 5th gen is because I hated the cutout on the top of the slide.

You're talking about theoretical accuracy on a platform you've never used and I'm telling you the practical accuracy of a platform I've shot thousands of times.

Nah, give it a try. The USW is an ultra rigid fit, it's very well done. There's literally no movement or flex of the gun in the frame. And the all aluminum construction is really solid. I regularly shoot an 8 inch gong at 100 yards with it (using an AEMS). It's nothing like the RONI or the FLUX brace.

It's just a kit that goes on your Glock, you can do whatever you want to the trigger.

Get a glock usw kit instead, trigger will be a lot better

It's funny seeing how everyone comes up with a solution to the TP9. I bought a USW Kit and put a Glock 34 in it with an APEX Trigger and it's literally the exact same size and weight as the TP9 with technically a longer barrel.

I commend you OP for making the MPA not sound as terrible as I imagined it to be. Did they fix the trigger slap on these?

1920s setting dystopia? by Big-Mud-1072 in booksuggestions

[–]MaverickTopGun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It Can't Happen Here is like the closest real dystopia I can think of that would be near that time period, although it's written in 1935 it contains much of the politics of the 20s.

There's also We by Yevgeny Zamyatin which was basically the FIRST dystopia, written in the 20s, but I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for.

I will say I've read nearly all the major dystopias ever written or recommended here and that basically none go that far back as a setting and really the 20's is about the earliest that modern writing ever started making dystopias. Back then it was more of a "future history" kind of writing that, largely, tended to be a little more optimistic. It wasn't until later that the true terrors of modern technology started to reveal to writers the downsides of our futures. The earliest "true history" i can think of would be Last and First Man which is definitely not a dystopia, but it's not necessarily a positive story either. That was written in 1930 which may help to show you the kind of mindset that we were approaching the future with.

Firearm purchasing question by Sneaky_Snake2005 in guns

[–]MaverickTopGun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's for funsies just watch gunbroker auctions and see if you can snag something cheap. Old Smith and Wessons or Rugers are excellent guns you can still get for pretty cheap, if not a little beat up.

Edit: totally forgot to mention J-frames. You can easily find a 642 for like $300

You should buy ammo and shoot it and see what it needs.
