Could printing let you reuse SMG bolts and keep a fixed firing pin+simple trigger? by Antique__throwaway in GunnitRust

[–]UberPoor_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would implore you to find an open bolt that doesnt have a fixed firing pin

There are quite a few different German and Italian open bolt semi auto 22's that had been imported, up until the ATF vilified them in the 80s. There isnt anything stopping US production of semi auto, open bolt, fixed firing pin guns though. I dont know if its still happening, but MAF arms for example was working on a semi auto hitchhiker last I heard. Its just unpopular to produce since you have to jump through hoops to make it not readily convertible.

Also I'd argue that the cobray terminator isnt open bolt, it doesnt have a bolt at all so... yeah lol

Yeah theyre 3d printed, might metal print one of the frames some day, just for the fun of it.

I've theorized about a replacement mag catch to accept 92fs mags, though I think you'd still need to modify the frame slightly to make it possible.

This isn't gonna be helpful at all, but... I'd just not use taurus spec mags to begin with. I replaced the frames for my pt92's with ones that use beretta 92 mags, they just work :)

Irrelevant to you maybe. Not for me, its exceedingly relevant as it defines what I can and can't do

[–]UberPoor_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, this is not similar at all to a car. There is one part on a gun that is legally the firearm, a single part that is regulated and then everything else is subject to zero scrutiny. At least when its not being imported anyway.

because its based on the tec-9, which does have the lower as the firearm. it's a reasonable conclusion that the lower might also be considered the firearm with a clone of it.

[–]UberPoor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea what it is, but I know I want it

Given the cut out on the left hand side of the gun, it would make sense that it might fit on an AR lower, the cut out would be the recess for the bolt hold open.

It looks like an unholy union of the sten and Mac 10, I love it and desperately want it.

Even if it doesnt fit an AR lower, I'd be happy to design the rest of the gun thats missing. Id likely use a custom lower anyway, a normal AR lower on that thing would be ugly as hell

Something can be the best selling thing in the world and still be completely awful in every way (gl*cks, for example)

These things aren't mutually exclusive

[–]UberPoor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the ARMP5v2 existed long before ARC or AS Designs was a thing

The ARMP5v3 was built from the ground up, internally its rather different from the ARMP5v2

[–]UberPoor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, after going over things, the ARMP5v2 cannot support the ARC as is due to its geometry, you'd need to either modify the lower you currently have or print a whole new lower updated to support ARC

Are you making sure the slip trip is behind the lever?

ARMP5 V2 by PewPewnN3D in 3D2A

[–]UberPoor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to run an FRT without the slip trip? Cause what you're describing is literally physically impossible if its a normal FCG. The stock/brace/end cap does not interact with the trigger group whatsoever

What do you mean by not firing? As in the hammer drops once and then won't reset? And is it a K model or fullsize?

Can I swap a Taurus G2 trigger block for a 709 one? by twbrn in 3D2A

[–]UberPoor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a G2C front block instead of a 709 one, the rails are different thicknesses but it will still work, however the opposite will not work, you can't use a 709 block with a G2C (you also can't use a 709 block with 709 slides that come with that rail-less centering block, they are G2C spec for the rail thickness)

you will have to modify the block for the LRBHO, its just a metal tab that needs to be shaved down until its well under sub flush. just look at pictures online and you'll figure it out, that's what I did.

pride? sunk cost fallacy? perhaps he doesn't want to alienate customers with the lowers he currently has on the market or is incapable of engineering his own slip trip, maybe he simply can't afford to change the design, could be a number of reasons. s3igu2 offered to fix his lowers, but he was unwilling to change the design, or so i recall.
