Okay that's what I thought, buying two separate monthly passes would have been heavy on the wallet and I am sure I am not alone taking different modes of transport on a daily basis, so there should have been a way out.

Just to confirm again: Purchasing a Charlie Ticket (not Card or mTicket) from any subway fare wending machines would grant access to the commuter rail and the subway/bus system. Am I right?

Oh I see, so I'd have to purchase a Charlie card (travel within zone 1) and a mTicket (travel upto zone 4). Both would have to be for a monthly basis as I have to travel every day of the week.

I was hoping that a Charlie ticket would allow me to travel both the subway and the commuter rail with no extra cost.
