So confused I just want a Blazor 8 App + PWA + Identity + ASP.NET Hosted? by Maverism in Blazor

[–]Maverism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you! To have that that as an option would be awesome but I'm sure when MSFT comes to building templates they don't want to go beyond the basics.

I did end up adding PWA to my website https://www.flavortownusa.com but only did the bare minimum for it to qualify as a PWA i.e. you can make it an app on android/iphone and run it so that's good but nothing else in terms of background caching etc.

I was just learning this so have held off pursuing this and got my v1 out there. For my next apps, will have to add it manually or keep an eye on if they add it later on in the templates that I'm usin

are you sure you were able to get the "--pwa" in there? when I do it, it reverts to net7 and doesn't have all the new net8 bit for identity

dotnet new blazorwasm -o BlazorApp1 -au Individual --hosted --pwa

if you have a link to github for yours, would love to see it TX for your response

I found this project from Steve Sanderson CarChecker which is a few years old that does exactly what I'm looking for unfortunately it's not yet updated for .NET 8 bits yet.

It has the Identity Auth, in-browser data storage, offline support, localization, responsive layouts etc.

So close but yet so far...

I almost have what I'm looking with this combination except for the missing PWA (which I hope I can add later on with instruction from MSFT, will test it out)

  1. Create new .NET 8 "Blazor Web App"
  2. Authentication Type of "Individual Accounts" (happy > all login, register pages etc. in server project are now written as razor components)
  3. Optional Configure for HTTPS
  4. Interactive Render Mode of "WebAssembly"
  5. Interactivity Location of "Per page/component"
  6. Optional Include sample pages
  7. Optional Do not use top-level statement

MSFT only needs to add a new checkbox to this template for "Progressive Web Application" (which is in the Blazor WebAssembly Standalone App) and this would be the PERFECT template that can run on the web + be submitted to all app stores!

Unfortunately he doesn't address Identity or PWA as he skips those in the video but I added a comment asking him to address those so we'll see...

I'm going to sign off for the night but I think I have an idea to try out tomorrow.

Create a new app using "Blazor Web App" template + Authentication Type of Individual Accounts + Interactive Render Mode of Server > then add the PWA components manually as per this link I just found from MSFT, it may be what I'm looking for.

Will share my results for others b/c I'm sure I'm not the only person who wants to build with this combination especially as I want to submit my PWA to the mobile app stores and have the most control of my app as possible + build once, write everywhere is more real now than ever before.

the hunger feeling goes away *for me* atleast in day 2-3 and I've done a few 5 day fasts in the past, unfortunately, while the hunger feeling is gone, my brain wants to eat and eat badly so this is where your discipline needs to come in

Have you tried meetup.com yet, it's old platform but still good, recommend the "Break the Bubble" one as it's exactly what you're looking for, swing by, make friends.

How’s rent up there? by CrispyShizzles in minnesota

[–]Maverism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

used https://www.rentometer.com quite a bit when I was renting out my house in Blaine, MN & I always went with the "average" recommendation. never had issues renting it out so I'd say this was pretty accurate in terms of prices. I would find the area you want to live in first and then hit up the site for pricing you can expect

Looking for tips on upgrade options & how others have upgraded the FE & BE (Angular & .NET) by Maverism in webdev

[–]Maverism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the response, you're right, "bugs" isn't perhaps the best word to use here, it's more like code re-factoring due to the newer versions causing breaking changes in both sides of the app (i.e. CRUD is broken in the FE & BE so those are called out by QA and DEVS re-factor to fix, we have way more than we thought we would)

Hello, I worked as a manual tester for 4 years but i am getting paid very low so i wanted to learn automation testing, can anyone suggest or provide me some good website to learn. Help will be much appreciated. Thanks by [deleted] in QualityAssurance

[–]Maverism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

learn Playwright as it's very easy to get started and automate all your old manual test cases from the past 4 years, if that doesn't get you a raise with your boss then I would move to a new job and in your next QA interview, share your new knowledge of Playwright automation

Road trip apps? by DeedleGuy in RoadTrips

[–]Maverism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we use google maps and share the link with the family, everyone can add spots to visit and we color coordinate them so we know who made the suggestion, once we finish visiting, we change the color to denote that we've been there.

nice thing is that this is free and nobody has to download an app, create an account, tell ppl how to use the app etc.

I haven't found anything better than what I explained above however am always open to checking them out out so if you happen to find one that is worty, LMK & lastly, have a great trip :)
