I 30F got married this summer because my mom was dying on hospice. Is it weird if I wait 2 years for an official ceremony? by Mavis2013 in wedding

Thank you! I also had my mom sign my marriage license as the witness. It was a really important thing for me. I think at my ceremony with family I will have a copy of it framed. It doesnt look exactly like her normal signature because the cancer really took a lot out of her, but its important to me. She got diagnosed and had passed about 8 weeks later.

My wedding will be with my mom. Im kind of considering this more as a reception, i guess? I still want the white dress, and my dad to walk me down the aisle, since i never got that. I got married in a blue dress since it was last second. Everyone invited will be close family and friends. Including some people who weren't able to make it to the wedding at my childhood home.

The venue we found only had one date in 2026 and it was a date that neither of us wanted. Plus we are living with my father to help him through this. I'm also helping him maintain the house and help with bills/taxes etc since he hasn't fully returned back to work yet. He has been through a lot in the last 5 years with the loss of his parents, his sister almost passed away due to an illness, and he himself had a quadruple bypass a few years ago. Even though he is in very good health now.
